It was a nice weekend . The sun was shining most of the weekend with a bit of snow falling but no accumulation and the temps were pleasant , lots of business in the back yard with the critters and birdies flying from feeder to feeder and chatting away . The Cardinal is now singing his mating song and all the birds and critters seem to be getting themselves ready for spring , Is there something they know that I don't ?
I did a lot of photo taking over the weekend as I love to try to capture all that goes on here in our yard cause each day there is a different sight .
This is what we see every day from our kitchen patio doors .
I know I am so wanting spring but I find that there is so much to winter to photograph if you just take the time to look . I like to call these
Snow dunes !
Different shadows on the snow change it’s colour and look of it’s texture !
Snow is hard to photograph and to get just the right exposure and lighting so it looks like snow and not a white out of white stuff lol ! Lot of practice and trial and error lol !
Then here is a frozen cascade of water running down the side of the house !
The suns warmth has been so strong now that any snow or icicles melt and then at night when the temps drop they freeze in many forms !
Today the sun is shining again I am happy about that but boy is it cold out this morning -26°C or - 13°F.
They say by mid week we are to get to above 0 and even have a day of rain , I think spring is trying her best to push through now ! Maybe the birds and critters do know something I don't !
Until next time friends !

White throated sparrows were having a sing song yesterday. We stood and listened for a while because it was just so lovely...a real spring sound.

Supper photos as always.
I have to say I love the trunk of that tree, is it in your yard ?
love your gnarled tree.
our mockingbirds have begun their spring songs in earnest. :)
Oh that tree, which you see every day from your kitchen patio doors..... Oh my!
I see a Gnome. A tree sized Gnome. I see his big nose in the top middle. And his arms, on either side.
Do you see him???????
He "jumped right out" at me!!! ,-)
And thank you for reminding me that there are still lovely things to become Photo Ops. Snow and shadows and icicles and etc.

I love the different textures you have captured. This is when winter should be recorded. So much better than rainy puddles :-)
The texture of ice on the walls really captures my eye.
I've taken so many winter shots that when combined with other things I have yet to post, it might last me well into April...
That is a great, old tree.
Beautiful photos! That cardinal is a nice bright red; he's got his spring wardrobe on, ready to impress the ladies...hahaha... There certainly is a lot to photograph in the winter, but I'm more than ready for spring!
Great photos of your busy backyard. We are getting another six inches of snow today. I'm wondering if it will ever stop.
I love the tree...I noticed the Gnome first thing too!!!
