A Bit Of This & That & Back Yard Birdies

Well like most of my posts the weather plays a big part of my days and the weather here has been wet, wet, wet , rain for past three days on and off and chilly,  hoping for some more sunshine soon other then the odd pop of it every now and then , that would be nice but  I will take what  I can get this time of year   and  regardless of the weather Miggs and I have been able to get our walks in in the mornings so that's good for us, we do so love our walks  and the odd few moments in the yard to and watch the birdies .

OCTOBER 2018 (2 of 5)OCTOBER 2018 (3 of 5)

The Blue Jays are always quite the character's and noisy to as they squawk at everyone .

OCTOBER 2018 (7 of 31)

Our little White Breasted nut hatch has been busy fueling up preparing for the cold days ahead .

OCTOBER 2018 (26 of 31)-2

As has our Red Breasted nut hatch to , it is nice to have  these little guys at the feeders again as well as our Chickadee's.

OCTOBER 2018 (14 of 31)It takes them some time to warm up to my camera and I but when they do we have a lot of fun .

All though they could take some relaxing lessons from Miggs who loves the camera just a bit to much at times lol !

OCTOBER 2018 (22 of 31)-2

OCTOBER 2018 (21 of 31)-2I think this little guy was paying attention to Miggs in the relaxing part in front of the camera which is a good thing for me  .

OCTOBER 2018 (19 of 31)-2Lots of theses little guys White Throated Sparrow's about now to as they peck and scratch beneath the cedar hedges all day .

OCTOBER 2018 (24 of 31)-2On the odd moments of clearing from the clouds and rain has been quite pleasant but it doesn't seem to last long , this time of year it is hard cause so much less sunshine is to be had .

OCTOBER 2018 (9 of 31)Our trees are a mix of colours and some are bare whilst others are half way there and some still have green leaves on , strange how the change in weather affects even the trees and how they react to it all . Lots of wet leaves on the ground and not so nice to tidy them up or mulch them so we are hoping for some dry sunny  days soon.

Well that's about it for my rambling on about well ..  not much as this time of year it gets pretty boring and quiet here other than the birdies chatting and chirping , a time for all to wind down and cozy in for the next season  . I cant believe how fast this month of October has gone already  and Halloween is Wednesday night . Our valley village has a few kids  most are Mennonite’s  and the others are mostly older  that go to town for trick or treating  so we don't do the handing out candy thing any more .  WOW ! a new month is just around the corner already .

Happy Halloween and Welcome November .

                                                 Oh  HURRAY !! I see sunshine .

                                                                                            Until next time .

Unpredictable Fall In Southwestern Ontario

Well it is another year where the Fall  season can be unpredictable , whilst others up north , east and west of us are cold and have some snow and frost we down in the most southern part of the Provence  are still fairly mild and haven't had snow or even frost yet , all though the air has been chilly and nights have been cold but just not cold enough to take that bite out my gardens . I have been clearing the plants that are done and at their end which are more than likely not cooler weather plants but I have ones that are still going strong , which is good cause I have seen the odd butterfly flitting about here still and they need my flowers . The reports on butterfly's has been remarkable this year and there  are still some traveling south .  The sun has been shining and it still holds some warmth in it to .

A few photos here of my flowers still going strong so far .

OCTOBER 2018 (1 of 1)-8My Mums plants are huge , I planted them in the beginning of the summer and they  have been blooming on and off ever since .OCTOBER 2018 (1 of 6)OCTOBER 2018 (1 of 1)-9

OCTOBER 2018 (1 of 3)-2

Other plants like my Knock out rose bushes are doing well still and all my Marigolds and some of my wave petunia's .

So I guess when we do finally get a frost I will be clearing all of these plants out and  cutting  some back  lol !

Miggs and I have been busy in the yard cleaning up some leaves  and having lots of camp fires . Just this time of year we get lots of winds off of  lake Erie that isn't to far from us  and as soon as you clean the leaves up more fall and cover the ground lol !

OCTOBER 2018 (1 of 1)-7OCTOBER 2018 (1 of 2)OCTOBER 2018 (2 of 2)                                                                                 Love the smell of a campfire .

Our Juncos are back now to  , such cute little birds .

OCTOBER 2018 (1 of 1)-4

I took a few pics of the moon and one of the many bunnies we have as it was getting dark last night  . Night photography is and can be quite a challenge .

OCTOBER 2018 (1 of 1)-5

OCTOBER 2018 (1 of 3)

The sun is shining  again today but we have been getting lots of dark clouds on and off mostly traveling across the north of our valley .

OCTOBER 2018 (4 of 4)

There are days Miggs just loves to snooze in the fresh fall air and then she misses Mr chipmunk dashing about collecting seed and taking it to his hidey hole by the pond and stopping for a drink or two lol !

From My Windows Yesterday & A Bit Of This & That

It was rainy , windy and chilly so I spent the best part of the day inside puttering and taking photos of the outside lol !

OCTOBER 2018 (6 of 31)

Every day and evening for the past week we have been getting flocks of Robins arriving in our yard feasting on grubs and worms from the ground then they take to our trees and cedar hedges for the night .

OCTOBER 2018 (14 of 31)

The Turkey Vultures have been soaring about over  the valley in a  huge  flock . Did you know that when you have lots of them it is called a  committee, venue or volt. In flight, a flock of vultures is a kettle, and when the birds are feeding together at a carcass, the group is called a wake.  Interesting  so we had a huge kettle of Turkey Vultures .

OCTOBER 2018 (3 of 31)Miggs couldn't care less at the time she was snoozing on her swing on the patio porch  , rain or shine Miggs loves it there her fave spot to be outside  .

OCTOBER 2018 (15 of 31)                                           The weather is quickly becoming snuggly blanket weather for me lol !

OCTOBER 2018 (17 of 31)

Leaves are falling more and more each day especially with the winds we have been getting !

OCTOBER 2018 (18 of 31)                                                                     It was a day of dark clouds here and there .

Then just as the late evening was here the sun had showed its light with my favorite kind of clouds in the midst of it gleaming their pretty silver and dark linings .OCTOBER 2018 (25 of 31)OCTOBER 2018 (19 of 31)

A brief moment of clear skyOCTOBER 2018 (26 of 31)

for me to see the moon and take a photo of it .

Then it was back to clouds .

OCTOBER 2018 (27 of 31)

The sun has been shining today but winds have been chilly . I have just a bit left of gardens to put to bed before for the next coming season then I am done .

Hope all are enjoying this colorful time of year   .

                                                                                         Until next time
