Early This Morning

Every morning when I get up I go down stairs to put the kettle on for my cuppa of tea and I always look out the  window over my kitchen sink  as I fill my kettle   I  look out  to see if I can see anything to photograph as there is the valley I can see from my window.  Well there was  and I had to get out there and try to capture it . Taking photos in the dark and cold and have them turn out ok are still a challenge for me as it is tricky to get all ones settings correct but still I like a challenge and love to be out there in the early frosty crisp mornings as the sun is starting to rise  and the land is slowly waking up .

I took these photos hand held as I take all my photos I don't use a  tripod  , to time consuming  to me and not as challenging , would the photos be better if I did use one , probably but I am stubborn that way lol .  My camera settings for all these photos  - ISO 800 , F-stop 4.5 and shutter speed was 1/5th of a second  , perfect ? not by a long shot  but I am happy with them lol !

OCTOBER 2016 (2 of 9)

As the sun was rising on the eastern horizon the light of the sky was changing but I kept my camera settings the same .

OCTOBER 2016 (7 of 9)

There is a bright  star or planet in the photos to the right of the moon, that's Jupitar .

OCTOBER 2016 (4 of 9)

The sky was getting lighter as the sun was rising  and I was beginning to loose the affect of the moon and Jupitar and I was pleased with my shots . It was the second frosty morning this morning after a day of rain yesterday but this mornings sun rise in the east and clear sky's was looking promising for a nice day today  . The light on the ground was still dark and I wanted a few frost photos so I went ahead and took just two in hopes they turned out as well with the same camera settings .

OCTOBER 2016 (9 of 9)

I find that not all photos have to be prefect , as a matter of fact the ones that aren't can be quite interesting looking .

Well that's it for me , the sun is up now and I am off for my walk with Miggs , a nice fresh crisp frosty sunny morning walk . It is to be a nice day of sunshine and temps to be 10C or 50F  great for more outdoor work and a camp fire .

                                                                          Until next time .

A Frosty Morning

YIPPY !!  We had our first frost this morning and yeah all know what that means for my  camera and I  lol !  A new canvas to photograph OH BOY !!

So off I went in my  jammies , boots and coat to get out there before the sun got to high up and to warm and melted it all ! The temps dropped to –6C  or  22℉ over night .

OCTOBER 2016 (3 of 39) As the sun was rising over the valley and the land began to wake to a frosty chill and  the birds were busy feasting at the feeders and singing in the trees I was in AWE  of all the frost that had formed on everything and seeing things in a new way .

My boot prints in the frosty grass as I searched .

OCTOBER 2016 (9 of 39)

The sun hadn't quite rose and the light was more dusk then dawn if that makes sense so it was a challenge to get my lighting right and take photos in .

OCTOBER 2016 (10 of 39)

OCTOBER 2016 (12 of 39)

With the fresh crisp air I was feeling invigorated , a real wake up feel and so happy to be out in such a pretty morning ! I know I am weird lol !

OCTOBER 2016 (18 of 39)

I still have flowers out in my gardens in bloom …well maybe not as much now after this frost lol .

OCTOBER 2016 (21 of 39)

The field beside us with all it’s wild flowers and grasses looks soo pretty caked in frost .

Lots of leaves have changed and  fallen off the trees  now but we still have green leaves on some  trees as well but this morning the frost made lots of leaves green or not  fall to the ground as they sounded like pieces of glass falling  with all the frost on them .

OCTOBER 2016 (34 of 39)

OCTOBER 2016 (13 of 39)

OCTOBER 2016 (37 of 39)

I took tons of photos as there was so much to see and I had fun taking them all .

I have some gardening cleaning up to still do and that should be that for the season but I will leave some of the cutting back of plants till spring as they require that and they will look interesting when the snow fly's as they do now with frost on them . The temps are to go back up a bit for next week and as of this afternoon it is to be rainy and possible wet snow but that's mostly for the  northern areas from us . Miggs rolled in something yesterday when we were outside and was a stinky dog for a bit  till Papa and I gave her a bath , she is soo good in the bath and just stands there with the look of shame on her face but she does enjoy it all as she does at the groomers , so no more stinky dog .. for now anyways till she finds another stinky smell to roll in lol !

Well that's it for me for now .

                                                                              Until next time .

Having Fun Doing Yard Work On A Nice Fall Day

Yesterday early in the morning  the dew draped  over everything and the fog was moving out and lifting as the sun rose giving us the promise of a nice fall day .

OCTOBER 2016 (2 of 46)

And that it was, a lovely day  , sun was shining clear sky’s warm temps and a day to get going with raking leaves as our trees are dropping loads on the ground  now .

OCTOBER 2016 (21 of 46)

I had to have  a camp fire going to  . Just something wonderful  about the fall air mixed with the smell of burning leaves and wood smoke , I love it .

OCTOBER 2016 (22 of 46)

We still have flowers that just don't want to stop blooming which is ok by me lol  , as our Clematis by our big old maple tree has been giving its last few HURRAHS !!!

OCTOBER 2016 (6 of 46)

The bees are still buzzing about on the few flowers that are still in bloom as they race against each other to get as much  pollen as they can .

OCTOBER 2016 (19 of 46)

Oh and talking about raking leaves well you know who just loves this time of year for that !!

OCTOBER 2016 (23 of 46)

                                                                                   Yup you guessed it Miggs.

She just saunters over and climbs in the pile and lay's there all happy and proud .

OCTOBER 2016 (31 of 46)

And sometimes she likes to help or at least she thinks she is helping which actually she is making me laugh silly dog .

OCTOBER 2016 (33 of 46)

Miggs always makes raking leaves that much more fun .

OCTOBER 2016 (36 of 46)

I had to get her out of the pile to get it all cleaned up but this fun she has in the leaves sure does make for great photos every fall .

OCTOBER 2016 (38 of 46)

After all this fun of leaf rustling and she finally got out of the pile for me so I could get it tidied up  I heard a robin up in the crab apple tree as he was enjoying the berries from it . We have had lots of Robins , Grackles and Starlings about again , they seem to come back this time of year after  where ever they go for a month or two after they have finished nesting here in our trees and cedar hedges in the spring and early  part of the summer .

OCTOBER 2016 (12 of 46)

I got all the leaves tidied up then Papa came home from work and he cut the grass and I did the trimming   , I think this maybe the last time we will have to cut and trim the grass  but we will still have lots of leaves to clean up for a while  and watch Miggs play in the piles again and have fun .

                                                                               Until next time .

Unusually Warm and Humid Here

It was a quiet weekend this weekend  . Papa had to do some work away from home  so it was Miggs and I on Saturday here and we just puttered . I cant believe the weather this time of year it has been warm humid and sunny  , today it is sort of  a overcast and a bit foggy  and looks like the sun will  out  soon to . The temps  are  18°C feeing like 24°C  or  64°F  feeling like 75°F   and  getting warmer as the day goes on and for the next few days to , its like summer  here again .

Miggs and I went for a nice walk early Saturday morning and I took a few photos with my phone of the colours .

20161013_093517

Some trees have changed more then others down here .

20161013_094911

Miggs was watching something whilst she was waiting for me to take the photo .

20161013_095324

The sumac's have fully changed in spots and even lost their leaves already .

When we got home from our walk we both sat and took in the day for a bit  as it was soo lovely out .

OCTOBER 2016 (4 of 22)

Miggs loves the sun shine and was tired after out walk .

OCTOBER 2016 (16 of 22)

Our Juncos are back now and busy feasting on leftovers on the ground from the feeders and the odd bug that is still about with this unusually warm weather .  All our fall/winter birds have arrived now .

OCTOBER 2016 (17 of 22)

The Blue Jays have been having a ball at the feeders and watering hole and constantly flap from one to the other and squawking like mad .

OCTOBER 2016 (22 of 22)

I spotted a juvenile Red winged black bird checking out the feeders to . The Crackles and other  black birds have stopped off for a while here as we are  on the migration path . We have loads of Robins about and all the birds seem very anxious  and restless  to  I guess they sense the unusual climate change that's going on here and the storms that have been happening through out the country  .  They are the best weather forecasters if one knows how to read them .

OCTOBER 2016 (1 of 22)

I think this warmer weather  is confusing the birds as to keep migrating or not for this time of year  .  I know it is confusing my gardens and myself lol .

OCTOBER 2016 (9 of 22)

Well Miggs you sure do know how to enjoy these unusual  warm fall days lol ! More like hey mum I am here get a few photos of me instead of all the birdies as she grumbles and groans to get the attention of the camera on her .. and it works every time .

OCTOBER 2016 (13 of 22)

Well that's about it  for me for now  things are slowing down more here now  for a while  . I missed taking photos of the supper moon  or Hunters moon over the weekend  as it was some what cloudy at night  .

Just a note of reminder .. if any of you comment through  noreplay that's  through bloggers email  it’s self and not your own email address  I cant  respond  so it isn't that I don't want to  respond  It cant be done . So to those who I can not respond to and of course those that I can I would like to thank you all for taking the time to pop by and for  leaving  a comment .

About Our Yard

The weather has cooled right off and feels more like fall  now as the air becomes crisp and chilly .

I went about the yard yesterday  taking in all that is about , like my English daisies that just love the cooler weather .

We are in a frost warning for the night so with a bit of luck it will be all frosty  and a new canvas for me to get out and enjoy early in the morning with my camera in hand and  my buddy Miggs  by my side .

Seasons are full of different wonders and beauty in each and every one .
