Frigid Friday

 

Well it is the last day of February and freaking cold  , The temps during the night dropped so low that this morning Papa’s van wouldn’t go into gear right away everything was frozen  but he managed to get it warmed up and away he went . 

                                              I looked at our thermometer outside the back kitchen window  BRR !!

                                                    

                                                          Then I  looked out the front of the house and saw this .

           All though very cold  this morning the sun still shines , so far the sun has been shining every day at some point !

                                          Harley doesn't seem to mind the sun puddles that pour in !

                                           Nice and warm but to bright mummy ! Got any kitty sunglasses ?

            It is very rare I can get photos of Harley as she isn’t to keen on the camera but today she seemed to be

enjoying  striking a  pose  or two for me lol !

                                                 Well this look is ok I have had enough of the camera mum !

                                                              

                                     This is her I am not impressed look . Well the photo shoot didn’t last long lol !

Even as cold as it is the birds are still happily flying from feeder to feeder chirping and singing ! I guess they have to keep moving to stay warm .

                                                   

As for Miggs she couldn’t care about the cold she actually likes it laying on her swing in the sunshine , and doesn't mind the camera either !

                    So we are swinging in to March as of tomorrow , so do you think Spring will soon be here ?  I hope so ! Our Robins are still here and more showed up the other day  so lets hope they know something we don't !

It Was Sunny

 

     Then  BAM !!!  A snow storm hit  a full blown BLIZZARD ! . Miggs and I just got back from our walk  it was windy and cold but the sun was shining and as we got home I went to fill the feeders , Miggs was playing with her toy running around being Miggs trying to get my attention . I saw the black clouds just north west of us and heard the winds roaring high in the sky just ahead of the clouds  and I  had said out loud to Miggs , those are snow clouds Miggs  , like she cared lol I went into my shed and filled my feeders took maybe 5 min and by the time I came out it was a white out and the winds were just a howling  I could barely see Miggs or a cross the yard to the house , she looking at me as if to say Mum lets go and get inside , she wouldn’t leave  me or take here eyes off of me at all   she was worried about me  , what a good dog  but at the same time poor Miggs was looking for some where to get shelter I yelling to her over the winds and blowing snow flying around “ up to the house Miggs go on “ as I struggle to hang the feeders up in the high winds and blowing snow . Well we made it in and both looked like snow beasts lol  and drowned rats we were so soaked with in minuets  !

                            This is what it looked like  but it was much worse being in it lol !

                                                    I am always amazed at how fast any storm can creep up !

It is still blowing ,snowing and nasty out there this old farm house is just a creaking and a cracking and the sun is trying to shine again in the middle of this blizzard  so with a bit of luck the storm wont last long and move on ! Miggs and I are now all cozy in side .

                                                   That was  weird  being caught in a wild snow storm !

                                               It was quite the adventure and invigorating to be honest lol !

                                         Is Spring coming soon ? I have had enough of snow and cold !

Tuesday Matinee

 

It is cold and bit windy but the sun is shining and the birds are happy and busy as usual at the feeders and in the trees ! Miggs and I went for a nice walk , when we got home I decided to take some video of the birds and all the their lovely noise .

                                                                     Crank it up and listen to our birds !

The Robin is my favourite bird , his song is soo pretty but as it is cold I don't think he will be doing any singing today !

     Theses are the sounds I hear every day and more in our valley and yard  it is amazing I love the nature here !

The sun is shining and is quite warm , snow is melting and all kinds of birds are returning . Some in droves lol !  Starlings . It’s like having our own bird sanctuary .

                             My kind of movie and music is all in our valley and back yard !  NATURE !

Cold , Sunny & Busy

 

The winds are blowing and  the air is cold today but the sun is shining and the back yard is busy . Miggs and I went for our walk this morning then when we came back I filled my feeders again . The birds and critters are all so busy stuffing their faces this time of year lol .

                       

           Some days I go out there and the traffic of birds flying from feeder to feeder  seems dangerous lol for me that is . I have nearly been run over by them lol or rather flown in to lol ! I have feeders in the back of the yard as well as closer to the house and they zoom from one set of feeders to the other . I wonder if I should put traffic lights in the back  yard to prevent collisions lol

                                                                 This Starling was just hammering at the suet !

   Even the critters were getting in all the action with the face stuffing lol ! If you look closely there is one squirrel in the front of the feeder and one on the back !

       Miggs was wondering around the yard taking it easy as the paths are laced with ice patches ! We have lots of grassy patches now  to , nice to see the grass though  ! As the snow slowly melts I am out there digging for puppy poop one thing I don't like doing when it snows day after day and I don't get a chance to clean it up cause  I end up with pounds of it when I can finally find it in the snow  lol  just one of those things  ya need to do when you have a dog  lol .

      No on to nicer things lol ..    This is a collage of some of the birds we get in the yard feeding during the winter , some stay all year long , whilst others migrate and then the summer birds arrive .  I have counted over 30 species of birds that visit our yard over the years or have just taken a pit stop . One day I will make a huge collage of all the birds we have in our yard as I have been lucky enough to capture so many in photos .

             When spring is in the air even though to us it doesn’t seem like it, the birds and critters tell a different story and when the sun is out they are busy in the yard at the feeders chatting , chirping , singing, squawking and chasing each other around , it’s like having the nature channel in my own back yard  and I love it !

Sunshine

 

                               The sun has been wonderful shining for the past day or so and again this morning .

                                     Papa and I are joining in  Sunlit Sunday with My Little Home and Garden .

                                                      

                                        Both Papa and I like to photograph the sun light from sun rises and sun sets !

An Early Start To Our Day

 

 

The sun is shining , the temps are chilly and winds are blowing . Papa and I had an early start to our Saturday for a change , I had to go to get a test on my left shoulder as it has been hurting for some time . I had to have a nerve test called E M G  where they electroshock the muscles and nerves . I had to have my left arm and shoulder  tested  it was weird it felt like when you get a shock from rubbing on carpet and you touch something except it is all over not just in the one spot and with a lot more intensity it was a really weird sensation .  After the Dr saw me and spoke to me and did some movement tests with my neck arm and shoulder and now I have to go and get an MRI . The Dr thinks I may have Myofascial Pain syndrome and that's just with my shoulder I am to see a Rheumatologist for the rest of my chronic body aches and pains  , Other then that I am doing ok lol . I have the odd day here and there where I am under the weather with some times chronic aches and pain especially if it is cold and or damp and the Barometric pressure or the air pressure  as I know it  changes  but I work through it !

Took some photos yesterday as it turned out to be sunny after all the whacky weather we had .

                    

       Lots of puddles around now that the snow has been melting . I like photographing the drops from the roof  when they plop in the puddles .

                                       The sun and the clouds by the afternoon were having a tiff in this photo !

                                                                            Thankfully the sun won . !

                                                                         And we had a nice sun set !

                                                                        After the sun had set I started supper .

                                          Miggs was watching me just to make sure of any bits coming her way lol 

                                             Harley! .. Well Harley is in her own world half the time lol !

                        

               

  So that was our day today and yesterday  other then the Dr’s appointments today a pretty typical day at  the Woods Country Cove  with the critters and birds in yard at the feeders , chatting, squawking and sing away the girls being the girls , Papa and I puttering , all is good  !

What Whacky Weather

 

Yesterday we had some whacky weather  and I think we are in for some more today . Yesterday morning was lovely as I posted about that yesterday but by the afternoon well all hell broke loose . So I took photos lol  !

             The winds were slapping rain and ice against the windows  it was loud .  It thundered and lighting whistle it snowed then it turned to sleet with high winds then rain and it has been raining ever since all with mild temps and yesterday evening we had another thunderstorm with lots of lighting . !

                                                               Miggs didn’t seem to mind she was snoozing lol !

      If you look carefully you can see the Downy woodpecker on the other side of the suit peeking

over the top as he is getting rained on .

                                            A bit of everything fell out of the sky yesterday , sleet  ,snow and rain .

                                 I love photographing rain drops  ok there isn't much I don’t love to photography

                                                                               where nature is concerned !

                                 Some birds were frantically feeding in the rain getting all they can before the others .

                                     And then there were some birds that preferred to stay dry and wait it out !

                                                                    Mr squirrel looked like a drowned rat !

Still raining with snow mix and windy  this morning  temps are 2°C or 36°F very damp and it is making me ache but the good news is  they say it will clear up and sunshine for this after noon .

                                         Maybe all this whacky weather is Spring trying to push through !
