OUR MIGGY IS HOME

We picked Miggy up yesterday afternoon from the vets. She was still some what groggy and week but she greeted us with a tail wag. It was great to see her. She hadn't eaten much and lost 3 lbs in 3 days but we will fix that. Last night she was very tired but happy to be home. Papa slept on the couch as Miggy cant take stairs for some time and I slept up stairs we are taking it in turns, she didn't sleep much last night and neither did poor Papa nor did I really I found myself in light sleep listening as to what was going on down in the living room. She has pain medication that lasts for 24 hours and we have to give her antibiotics twice a day.

Today Miggy is doing wonderful, bright eyed and as nosey as ever as to what's going on around the house. We take it in turns as to having one of us at all times in the living room with her , she has to rest for 2 weeks then we take her back to the vet for a check up. We woke up at 4am to a power outage so we put the wood stove on, hurricane lamps and candles , we have a gas stove so I was able to boil water for tea. We were able to get Miggy to eat this morning and have her biskets which we call bikkies and we all had a nap . The hydro didn't come on till 11 am this morning. Then as I was writing this the hydro went again and I thought I would loose this post but good old Live Writer automatically saves it .Miggy is a fighter and has already gotten away from me when Papa went outside to get more wood she can move fast on three legs but we have to try to keep all that at a minimum for now. When she goes outside to do her business we take her in her kennel which is just outside our mudroom door and she does well with her bandaged leg. We have a step and so we just put a towel under her girth and lift her up as she goes out and comes in she can hobble to do her business she is doing great  we are so glad to have our Miggy home. It will be 2 months before she will be fully recovered but with her determination and fight she will be back to her old self.

Aww, poor girl !
She is just happy to be home and together with you both.
Her and my Oliver could make a matched pair with their fancy colored bandages, he's got about two more weeks to go.
I hope she continues to improve, and make a full recovery.
Hugs,
~Jo

This post brought me back 10 years when our Golden Retriever had a broken leg. The casts she had all looked something like your Miggy's. That was a very tough experience on all of us and my heart goes out to your family. Try your best to keep her still so it will heal. That was the hardest part: to keep a golden retriever down during hunting season was nearly impossible!! About 8 casts and 3 months later she was back to her old self and running again! Hang in there!
