I had mentioned in yesterdays post that Papa and I were having fun photographing new birdies in our birch tree as they eat the cat tail seeds that hang from it .
Well Papa captured this beauty .
Meet the Magnolia Warbler !
The Magnolia Warbler is a handsome and familiar warbler of the northern forests. Though it often forages conspicuously and close to the ground it can be seen in tree tops feasting on the trees seeds .
A bit of info for my fellow birders

Breeding (Alternate) Plumage: Black mask, white eyebrow stripe. Conspicuous black band across the upper breast, with heavy black streaks on the sides, wide white wing-panels, and a black back. Rump yellow.
Nonbreeding (Basic) Plumage: Duller with reduced streaking, two white wingbars, and greenish back. Lacks black face mask; face gray with white eyeing.
Female Description
Breeding (Alternate) Plumage: Gray face, white eyebrow stripe, modest black streaks on the sides, and thin white wingbars.Nonbreeding (Basic) Plumage: similar to nonbreeding male, with an olive-tinged crown and less streaking.
Immature Description
Similar to nonbreeding adult, but without black streaking on chest. Olive-gray crown and upper parts. Throat, breast and belly yellow, with pale gray band across upper chest. Narrow white wingbars.
So this is our newest birdie occupying our birch tree and it is wonderful to have him in our yard and he is soo pretty . I don't know how long he will stay or if he is just passing through but what ever he decides we loved seeing him and Papa did a wonderful job of photographing him as he was bobbing all about feasting on the birch tree cat tail seeds .
Until next time

that's a new one for me. Love his markings; never seen one before.
Wow, gorgeous shot of the Magnolia Warbler.. It is a beauty! Have a happy day!
He's spectacular, Elaine. Wonderful photos.
Wow ! Elaine you have the most interesting birds where you are.
I have never seen this one but frankly we are so focused on our pretty Goldfinches which seem brighter and fatter than ever this year.
You are wise to move on to more perennials .. but I too have a few annuals as well. I love annual euphorbia with those starry tiny white flowers.
We had lots of rain last night with a few cracks of thunder .. thank heavens because we were getting way too dry .. have you had rain too ?
Joy : )
What a lovely bird, so glad it was visiting your garden and hope it returns on a regular basis. We had some rain overnight which gave everything a good drink. But darn, that means the grass that got cut yesterday will be growing today, ready for another cut in a day or so :)
He's a beautiful bird, and I appreciate learning that he changes from breeding season to a less ornamented guy. Great photos!
HI looks ovely adn thanks for all the information on him.
How exciting, sweet little bird with such pretty markings.Blessings Francine.
I don't remember ever seeing a Magnolia Warbler, but I do like the yellow and black coloring.
