Spring Has Sprung

 

The weather today was amazing , sunny, warm and just beautiful , blue sky’s and not a cloud in sight . The temps reached 10°C or 50°F and that was in the shade . Miggs and I went for a nice long walk this morning and then I tidied up the yard for a bit , had lunch and enjoyed the afternoon taking photos and watching the birds in the sun with no coat on ! Yup I got my first  suntan  of the season on my face !

                                             

The fly's were out in droves with the warm sun and weather and the land is warm now to with muddy muckiness  as the fly's swarm the ground of grasses .

                                     

                                                                Look what I found in my garden !!

                                     One of my Hyacinths have popped up ! Oh boy was I ever happy to see this !

                                      

                                                       There are buds on trees and bushes just waiting to pop !

                                                    

                                                         My Forsythia bush will be blooming soon !

                            I started out here on the front porch this morning enjoying the sun and warm temps .

                                             Then I ended up here on the back porch by the end of the afternoon !

                                Miggs enjoyed the warm afternoon sun and temps to  ,  snoozing on Papa’s work shop deck !

                                          Way up high was a bald Eagle soaring over the fields and valley looking for a snack !

                    Mr & Mrs Robin taking an afternoon stroll !! One of them just finished pulling up a worm from the ground .

                           Red wing black birds were serenading  me all day ! Their song reminds me of being in the marsh !

                         The weather today was perfect and tomorrow much the same but warmer . I will be back outside taking in as much spring as I can , cleaning and tiding up the yard some more  and have a camp fire in our fire pit with all the tree sticks and twigs I collect from the yard , then take more photos of spring  and of course go for walks with my Miggs . 

                                                Tomorrow is April 1st or as we know it April fools day  .

Mother Nature's Tricks

 

             Um  …I am not impressed !!!  We woke to a blanket of snow  BLAH !!  But the good news is the temps are rising and the sun is up so the snow wont be around for long !

    I think  Mother nature is toying with us , it is spring Mr winter is to be hibernating now  tell him to go to bed please !

          Any who ..  I am joining up with Karen at My Little Home and Garden for the last and final Sunlit Sunday hop  I will miss this . Thanks Karen for hosting the hop and bringing bloggers together and making new friends !

Spring Is Pushing

 

 

             It’s way through more and more here  each day  .  The snow and ice are melting  ,more grass is showing and greening up in spots  . Yesterday was cloudy ,  damp , mild and windy . The temps are slowly climbing  each day and the nights are becoming warmer  to . 

It is almost April so with April showers brings May flowers  and that I cant wait for  . Miggs is happy there is grass again for a good rolly polly back scratch  !

                    Yesterday Miggs and I went for a long walk , all though cloudy it was quite pleasant out . We walked by the river and I noticed no more ice flowing in it  just fast running water , It was just last week it had huge ice jams in it so that tells me the temps and land are warming up !

                       We have a little song Sparrow or as some call them field Sparrow who sits in our Cedars beside the front of the house  and sings so pretty !

            The Robins are bobbing around poking at the ground checking to see if it is soft enough for the worms  and grubs to be near the surface  yet !

Today  it is cloudy again and possible showers but the temps are mild and more snow and ice patches are melting  .

I figure by next week  with the warmer temps  and breezes  , rain , sun  and the land being warmer what little is  left of our snow and ice  will be gone and spring can push through even more  !

Movie Time

 

                            What spring looks and sounds  like so far   here at Woods Country Cove

                  We had rain last night and the morning is sloppy and muddy but the temps are already warmer  6°C or 43°F to us right now that’s balmy lol but it is  very damp   .  Our snow and ice is melting as you will see here in the movies !

             The birds as you can hear in the videos are very happy about the warmer temps and the fact that

spring  is in the air .

  We are to have rain today . Maybe with the warmer temps we will have a thunderstorm , like me self a good thunderstorm .

Most of spring has showed up all the spring birds are back snow is melting and grass patches are greening up , I am still waiting to see the chipmunks out and about and still waiting on spring flowers to pop above ground I figure with the rain and warm up we are having now will help and I will hopefully see some spring flowers in the next week or so !

As spring slowly shows it’s self  I see and hear more beauty in our yard and valley every day and try to capture it the best I can  !

Still Looking For More Signs

 

 

           Of Spring that is .!!!

                     I would like to thank you all for your birthday wishes yesterday .  I got lots of lovely cards and phone calls , it was a good B-day .

  Now back to Still looking for more signs of Spring …. Ok where the heck is it ! This month has been so out of whack and teasing us it isn’t funny any more !  

                                                                      This is what we got yesterday  afternoon…

                                                 Ok mother nature not funny any more I have had it with snow !

                                                        So I took photos of something colourful and in bloom !

        All three Geranium plants I had brought in from the fall have been blooming .

The salmon pink in the photo  above is my favourite colour .

 

  Then as the snow clouds passed  and moved on the sun came out for the evening and we got this !

                                                                          Now that’s more like it !!

                Mr Robin was chirping and singing with the others as the sun was setting   giving the indication by the colours in the sky  of a sunny day to come  .

This morning both Papa and I had to be up at 5:30 am  and out of the house by 6 am . So as I was getting ready which is wash face brush teeth  get dressed  and run a brush through my hair  , Papa was making our  tea in our travel mugs to take with us , cant function with out our morning cuppa tea lol .  Papa is used to that time as that is the time he  gets up for  work and  leaves for work  but Miggs and I are used to getting up at 7am  this time of year  come late spring  and  summer we get up with the sun   but  as it was she was not to impressed  , Miggs has separation anxiety so we don't go to  many places that we cant take her with us  . Any who  , I had to go to get an MRI   in a small city about an hour away at the hospital  so that was an early morning adventure .  As Papa and I came out of the hospital the sun was already up . We got home at about 8:45am  so not to long . Miggs was happy to see us ,Papa left for work and Miggs and I went for our morning walk  and are  all back to our normal routine .

      So the weather people  say we are to be getting spring like temps as of the next week   so I will and am still looking for more signs of spring  like  my   Tulips , Daffodils and Hyacinths  poking through the ground in the gardens  , no more  sudden snow falls creeping up  and warmer air and breezes  would be nice .

                                                   Thankfully the sun is melting the snow we got yesterday .

Deja Vu

 

         When I woke this morning I looked out the window as I do every day  saw  the sun was rising and that made me smile  then I noticed we had a dusting of snow . This day back in 1976 I turned 10  and it was exactly the same outside as it is now  . It took me back just for a split second to that day when I was on the farm , the rosters here on the farm down the road were crowing and the Robins were singing and chirping  just like they were when I was on the farm on that day , it was a fast  flash back of  memory but a good one ,  Deja Vu .

So I went out side in my jammies of course  and took photos for my archives that this day March 25th 2014 it had snowed a light dusting of snow  again as it did  on my birthday 38 years ago , ok the math is  I am now 48 OMG !!!

The thermometer out side  says it is –10 but it isn't that bitter cold feeling like it would be if it was the same temp in January , I think because the earth has warmed up and the sun is helping . Either that or I am just used to it now lol !

     When I came  here to do this post on my computer there was a message of Happy Birthday to me from Papa , that was lovely  , thank you Papa !

                      Nothing special being done for this day , just  feeling happy and  blessed I have my girls , Miggs and Harley my wonderful Papa and little farm house with all the beauty and nature  in our yard and all around us in our pretty valley , I mean really .. what more could a nature loving  country gal want  ??!!!!

Pet Peeves & Best Friends

 

                           Yup , even pets have pet peeves  with each other !

         

       Pets are funny creatures aren’t they ? Full of expression and character !

  We had Harley for a year or two before Miggs . Then we brought Miggs home and Harley didn’t want anything to do with her , all though Miggs had other plans and kept trying to chase the kitty  at times but then the kitty did play  . Harley has a full set of claws but has never pulled them out on Miggs although some times she looks like she wants to shred her lol . Now a days Harley and Miggs are good friends and when Miggs goes outside Harley will meow for her  and run to her when she comes in  , then there are times  Harley is the instigator and shoves her nose in the fur of Miggs paws and nibbles them and that drives Miggs nuts and so it begins the crazy running around chase play  . Then Miggs will give Harley a slurp or two and well  ..the look on her face is priceless  looks like she is about  pass out  or start talking and say ( “Ewe mum … Miggs goobered on me again “)  Or when Miggs is laying down Harley will go up to her and  return the favour wash her face and of course Miggs doesn't mind  she usually comes back with a sloppy kiss for Harley and that does it  for Harley she’s out of there  lol ! Then we get days like this where they are the best  of buddies  and cuddle up .

                           They have their  own pet peeves with one another but deep down they really  best friends !

           Harley was giving Miggs the look as if to say “ok kid lay still I am trying to sleep here “ as Miggs was moving around beside her .

                                                                        

                                     I think Miggs understood Harley’s  bothersome look ! Sorry Harley I just can get comfy !

                                         Pets  ,  are a big part  of our family and good friends to us and each other !

                                                       Do your pets have their own pet peeves  but are also best friends  ? !

Sunshiny Days

 

           All though the mornings are cold , the sun rise is wonderful and gives a look and a feel of a nice day ahead .  Our snow is melting more and more and the patches of grass are greening up and getting larger now .  The robins serenade us in the evenings and early mornings  with their wonderful songs echoing through the valley  as a flock of Canadian geese fly over head honking  then all the other birds join in with their songs and chit chat .

                      Birdies must be having a lay in this morning ! I hear them but no one seems to be hungry yet  !

                                                          Miggs watching  something in the back hedges !

                          Oh , those bananas look good think I will have one with my cereal and cuppa tea this morning !

                   Whilst blooms out side are still figuring out spring I have blooms indoors with my Geraniums

            A quiet Sunlit Sunday for us today ,   Papa has few bit’s and bobs he wants to do around the house  but mostly just putter ,  I will prepare the roast of beef in the slow cooker this morning  for supper , do a bit of laundry , take Miggs for a walk and enjoy the Sunlit Sunday !

Finally

 

                                 It is Spring !  WOOHOO !!!

                                                              Spring arrived yesterday at 12:57 pm !

                   

              It was a gloomy day for the most part but just as spring arrived the sun peeked out for a bit !

                                    Today the sun has risen the temps are warming up , birds singing and all are happy !

                                                                       First  full day of  spring morning sun rise !

                                    

                                                                             Rising up over our valley !

  

                                                                   Miggs is happy it is Spring to !

                                   

All our spring birds are back , the lands are warming up as is the air  ,  left over snow is melting and lots of grass is now showing and some turning green already  ,  all is waking up  ready to take on what spring has to offer !
