What A Day

My what a strange end to the day yesterday ! Papa worked 2 hours overtime to get some things done at work for the day  see he starts at 6:30 am  when he really can start at 7 am but he likes to get in a and get a jump on things as this is their busiest time of year . He usually  finishes work at 4pm and gets home at 4:30 but didn’t get home till 6pm . Big black clouds were rolling by with the odd thunder but nothing really came of them for us  till they were over the lake  south of us !

Then just after Papa got home the hydro went out , well wouldn’t ya know it . So we had sandwiches for supper , I dug out my whistle kettle that I don’t use any more as it takes a long time to boil , thankfully  I have a gas stove and  I made cups of tea and then we sat on the back porch till it got dark . The hydro was off for 5 hours . We are so glad we still have some camping equipment around and got the wined up lights on the go , hurricane lanterns ,  little battery lanterns and candles . By 9 pm we went in as the skitters were out in full force and it just wasn’t that nice to sit out any more once they start . So we went in and sat for a bit and enjoyed the piece and quiet . The entire village along with a wide spread of the area had no hydro . 10 Pm rolled around and we went to bed , now mind you we are used to AC and it was hot and muggy with very little breeze . Miggs had a hard time settling down as she was to hot but we made the best of it and by 11 pm the power came back on ! So did the AC !

Earlier in the day, all though still humid and muggy with  more of a breeze then before the storms Miggs was on patrol of the back yard as the squirrels were running back and forth from their feeders they usually   go around the outer part of the yard on the other side of the hedge or through it  but not this guy  he thought he would challenge Miggs !

Summer 2013 (16 of 18)

I am sitting there taking photos thinking to myself ! Well Mr squirrel either you have balls or you are off your nut to take Miggs on a challenge !

Summer 2013 (17 of 18)

He runs , goes one way Miggs does the same then he try's another direction Miggs does the same  it was a game of cat and mouse or shall I say dumb squirrel and a determined  fast dog  with a lot of herding  instinct in her .

Mr squirrel narrowly escaped in the back of the tent shed there knowing that Miggs cant get back there ! I bet his heat is beating a million miles a minuet after that close call !

Summer 2013 (6 of 18)

But Miggs rests after that and lays and waits to see if he has the balls or nuts shall we say  to come out and challenge her again !

Today all is back to normal , the sky is blue and clear , sun is shining and the humidity has gone for now . I opened up the windows to welcome the cool fresh air in and start our day !

Until next time , Have a good day !

Yup, the squirrel has balls!
It was stinking hot with intense humidity yesterday (just how I like it),then the wind whipped through and cleared it all out...strange weather this summer.

Glad you were prepared for the storm! That is one ballsy squirrel for sure! It's been miserably humid here too this week... all over cast, rain off and on just muggy and icky! But, got lots done in the garden which I wouldn't have been able to do in the blazing sun! Life is good, even if it's sweaty!
hugs,
Deb

We didn't have 1 drop of rain, even though under severe thunder storm warming. I think it was all happening out your way. What is the interesting structure on the deck area in your yard? Those squirrels sure can be crazy, crazy, crazy.

Hi Elaine...Glad you was set for your outage!! I don't have AC at all, so that wouldn't be a worry for me, but I do want my fans running : )!!
We have had those 95 to 100 degree periods here to "yuck"!!
Hahaha love your Miggs and the squirrel story ..so cute!!

Not having power to cook on would not have been a main concern, cause we could use the outdoor grill, but losing the AC in our hot and humid weather would definitely have been a downer for me. Glad all worked out OK. Enjoy the weekend!
