A Bit Of This & That

Well , it has been a nice quiet week here not much happening other then the rain storm with thunder and lighting and lots of rain and high winds but the temps have been warm and the sun has finally made an appearance as of yesterday  late afternoon and we finally got our later sun set  since we had sprung the clocks forward the one hour and the sun set at 7:30pm and it didn’t get totally dark till 8:30pm I loved it, and  as the sun set the peepers were chirping as were all the Robins and singing , totally music to my ears . I didn't get to photograph  last nights sun set as I was to late after the fact and the positioning has changed and it sets just behind our little back 40 forest  , I didn’t get a chance to get out into the field to take photos of it either , oh well next time  .

I have never seen the Song Sparrow down on the ground under my feeders as he is usually in a tree or bush signing his pretty song  around the yard  but I guess he thought he would check the place out and peck about  , he was soo happy he was eating and singing  it was funny yet wonderful !

MARCH 2016 (2 of 19)

It was still a bit cloudy and rainy when I took these photos as we still were in the rain storm and I couldn't get to close to this little Song Sparrow as he is very skittish .

MARCH 2016 (4 of 19)

For such a tinny dainty bird he sure can belt out the sound of a pretty song !

MARCH 2016 (11 of 19)

As the rains stopped the Robins were very busy hunting for fly’s and other bugs ,  yes I said bugs we have them out already  , worms and grubs  and our grass is getting longer and greening up now to ! There were about 15 Robins all over the lawn but do you think they would all get together so I could get a photo of them all at once ? of course not that would be to easy lol !

MARCH 2016 (12 of 19)

Found this guy resting on my outside window , I don't know if he came in on the storms or just crawled out from a nice warm winter home to get a breath of fresh air and get going on his SPRING  journey  lol !

MARCH 2016 (13 of 19)

Then yesterday afternoon the  rain clouds disappeared and the sun shone in the pretty blue sky , temps reached 12C or 54F and it was lovely a bit windy though but even the winds were warm .

MARCH 2016 (15 of 19)

It was such a lovely afternoon and so very SPRING like to , All the birds and critters were out and about feasting and enjoying the weather  , Miggs and I went for a nice walk and sat outside in the sun shine watching the wild life in the yard .

MARCH 2016 (17 of 19)

Part of the valley from our front lawn. Many hawks and Eagles fly over this part of the valley as just down from the house there and across the road that is across from them  is the river and the Eagles like to sit up on the tippy top of the trees there at the top of the valley and watch for fish in the river then dive in and scoop them up , I haven't got photos of that yet as it seems the banks of the river are very soft and quite dangerous to stand on at  and can give away at any moment   but I have had a few nice shots and sightings of the Eagles as they fly over our house to that very destination .

MARCH 2016 (19 of 19)

This is that part of valley from one of my kitchen windows  this morning as the sun was rising as well as the temperature and the birds were singing the praises of a lovely day ahead . The temps are warmer at night now to dropping to only 5C or 40F which is nice and not cold at all quite refreshing actually as we can have the window open in the bedroom now at night and wake to the birds in the mornings  oh how I love that .

Oh boy SPRING is only 4 days away  WOOHOO !

Any who…. I am off  for now as the sun is high in the sky and the outdoors are calling me !

                                                 Wishing you all a

my version

                                                                                  Until next time

We woke to snow this morning here Elaine - our usual St. Patrick's Day weather. :) It is definitely looking more like spring in your area and hopefully it will soon come here. The forecast is for cooler temperatures the next week and maybe a storm on Monday but it will warm up soon enough. Have a great St. Patrick's Day!

Lovely shots of your pretty area. I love the little sparrow singing ;) You are so lucky to be able to watch eagles fishing. What kind of eagles are they? We had a wild day yesterday with the wind just roaring through the trees at the marsh ... and cold! The afternoon brought some thunder and lightening too. Today is very still, so we're heading out again to enjoy it before any rain comes through. Happy St Patrick's Day!

It looks so beautiful where you are! Spring is definitely here and I'm so happy about that. I spent yesterday morning and this morning in the yard taking photos and enjoying the sounds of spring and all the little critters scurrying around. Have a great day ahead!

Hi Elaine - I really love your kitchen window view. It reminds me when we lived out west near the foot-hills. I can imagine the hawks would love it there. I had one circling over our neighbours trees this morning as it was drier after three days of rain. Hope it stays away from my feeders. lol Happy St Patrick's Day to you, hubby, Miggs & Harley.

Hi Elaine, Happy St Patricks Day to you. Glad you are seeing signs of spring! Our ev nines are lighter than when we were in Califorina, but not as long as yours. We have snow today and I'm so ready for spring, however then we get heavy rains and I get anxious for summer.
Thanks for sharing such wonderful pics!

Happy St Patrick's Day back to you, Elaine, and it seems you already have a lot of greening going on in your yard. That was a LOT of robins to see all at once and I confess to not having seen a single one yet. Of course, from our 5th floor apt view all we can see is the Nashua River and the birds are mallards, Canada geese, and seagulls. You did capture a lovely sunrise.

Saw my first Robin today but no Song Sparrows yet.

I have noticed some birds, but not too many bugs! I hope they will wait a while before they visit.
