Natures Hold On Me

As I sit here on my porch listening to the sounds of nature  in our yard and through out the valley  with  the sun setting   as the day comes to an end  with my buddy Miggs by my side . I realize just how much nature has a hold on me . The sounds of the evening as it becomes dusk   the sound of a dog barking in the distance  , the sound of geese honking as they take their  last flight of the day  , the song sparrow singing his pretty song at the fields edge almost sounds like a bed time lullaby . Crickets begin to chirp and  make their funny creaking sounds as a horde of crows in the distance caw and carry  on like they have all gone mad . The chip chip of a Cardinal as he looks for his meal before the light of day disappears  for good  .  The hummers zoom back and forth chasing each other . The sound of a Robin chirp chirp ever so quietly but just loud enough to make out amongst all the other sounds ,the smell and feel of a cool evening breeze as it carries fresh smells of fields and  the valley forest  in it  and makes the chimes gently tink , tinking  and  the leaves of the trees a rustling   sound . The sound of a water fountain gently trickling  with an ever so slight echo to it . The few birds that feast at the feeders softly calling the family over  whilst everyone else is tucked in for the night in the trees and hedges. The sound of a cow bellowing in the distance in the farmers field and the whinny of a horse  as it echo's through the cool evening air . Seeing a bunny hop out to feast on grass , deer peer out from forest edges to munch the lush field grasses , a flash of light flickers by every now and then as a firefly zooms past , oh look a bat flying about catching bugs in then air , oh and a star or two  shining in the sky as it darkens ,  and to think all this and more is just in the evening as the sun sets and it becomes dusk then night time is upon us. The hold that all this nature has on me as I sit here smiling to myself thinking how wonderful it is to see and hear all of this , to think and feel soo content , happy and most of  all lucky to be able to experience  all of this and to do it all over again evening after evening . To know that nature has such a hold on me that I cant stand to miss any of it and never want to either .  Nature is my music , my movie  my tranquility, my place to think  my canvas to photograph  . It always has and always will have a hold on me . Buzzz !!!  SLAP !! ouch, skitters are out,  better go in , still nature has it’s hold on me  cause I will be right back out there tomorrow morning as the sun rises as it all wakes up from the night we just had  and then I will enjoy , see and hear more as the land  and nature wakes  to meet a new day and have me in awe all over again with even more beauty and sounds  .

That’s  natures hold on me .

Nature never fails to amaze me! that is one of my sayings that I use frequently on my site because even when you think you have it all figured out, something comes along to widen my horizons.

Elaine that was beautiful! I too enjoy nature and am thankful for where we live, to have eyes and ears to see and hear it and the ability to get out and enjoy it. We are blessed! Have a wonderful day.

You have described it perfectly! So many people don't like or understand the country at all, and prefer the city -- I think they should spend some time with you, it may just change their mind!

There's so much beauty in nature to be thankful for, isn't there? I'm listening to the crickets in our front garden now, a peaceful chirping that I enjoy listening to.
