Another Thanksgiving Weekend Over

We had a nice long weekend this weekend it being our Thanksgiving . I cant believe how fast the time goes now a days . Saw the family had YUMMY  foods lots of laughs some weren't feeling well but they enjoyed the company .

Papa and I were able to get out and finish the majority of the garden clean up this weekend  and what ever is still in bloom which isn't much  we left for a bit of colour in the gardens and I will trim or pull  them by  the end of this week as  they should be done by then  !

I did  manage to get some  nature photo taking  in this weekend !

OCTOBER 2014 (6 of 9)

Saturday morning we woke to a frost covered land and George our crow alarm clock cawing his head off as he does every morning  .

OCTOBER 2014 (1 of 9)

The weather has been up and down , rain yesterday,  lovely  & cool and sunny on  Saturday but frost in the morning  and Sundays weather  was perfect OCTOBER 2014 (5 of 9)

We have hundreds of Robins here with  Grackles  and Starlings  to . I think the up and down weather has them all confused , either that or they have stopped here for a bit before they continue their journey ! Today it is humid windy with clouds and sun  with the threat of thunderstorms  feels like a summer day  and the crickets are still chirping to .

We have half and half of fall colours some trees have changed , some are already  bare and some are still in the process of changing !

OCTOBER 2014 (16 of 41)

Our little Downey woodpecker has returned now and enjoying the suet's . I have heard the Nuthatches but they haven’t come down to feed as of yet  and Blue jays are hogging everything lol .

All in all it was a nice to see family and eat YUMMY food ,  quiet  , garden cleaning  and nature filled  Thanksgiving  weekend .

                                                                                      Until next time .

The weather was weird, the frost killed off the last of the veggie plants.
We had a HUGE flock of starlings here last week, their chatter in the forest was deafening..happy they made it to you on time !

Hi Dear,
fantastic pictures, I love the birds and the frosty plants - even if I'm happy that we have warmer temperatures here!
Have a wonderful autumn and all my best from an Austrian gardener

We had those couple of frosty days too. I got some nice photos of the partial moon this morning. And what a day it is turning into, quite warm and sunny. I've just been cutting off the hosta and solomon seal leaves. I kind of hate to do it while they are turning lovely shades of yellows but I think this might be the last couple of nice days. Plus, now I can see the spots that were missed when the mulch went down and I can fill them in as we have a couple of bags left in the garage. I got all the ingredients to make my bird cakes but won't be putting them out till the big flocks of grackles have left as they devour everything in sight. Enjoy this lovely day.

Your photos are beautiful. I love the one with the frost on the petunias. I saw a small flock of robins in the yard last week but the birds seem to be scarce. Have a good week!

The frost pictures are great, Elaine. Love the picture of the Blue Jays. They are kind of domineering, but I love the colors.

Glad you had a deliciously wonderful Thanksgiving! Now you have me looking forward to our American Thanksgiving!

Your captures of the frost are beautiful, and I also particularly liked the shots of the blue jays--such pretty birds!

Those jays are such dominant birds when it comes to feeders.

It's nice to see all the birds enjoying your backyard.
A great photo of frost on the leaves and flowers.

I'm glad that you had a good Thanksgiving. I hope that your not so well family/friends are all feeling much better soon and that some time together for a meal did you all the power of good and brought some joy to you all. xx
