Weird Weather & Planning Gardens

Today it is raining, quite heavy at times and we even had a few thunder claps early this morning . The snow is almost all gone and the temp is to reach  10 °C   or 50 °F  Spring like that is  for us. The rest of the week is to be mild during the day but drop at night. If it drops tonight that makes for black ice on the roads. The poor birds in our yard don't seem to know what's going on and seem to be quite confused with this on and off again winter spring like weather.

I received my flower catalogues and since it is a rainy day today I will go through them and start planning my gardens and day dream of spring and summer !

Now that I have time, I'm going to have to get on the mailing list for flower and seed catalogs. Stay dry, our snow is starting to taper off.

I live a couple miles from Lake Ontario east of Rochester in NY and we too are having one crazy winter! Wind and temps 50 degrees once or twice a week alternating with a little snow....just hope spring is normal!

I would love to be planning my garden, but we have to be away from home for My Honey's work for ten weeks at a time. We are gone ten weeks; home ten weeks. That just doesn't work for gardening. :( I look forward to seeing your garden pictures on your blog. :)

I need a lot of help when planning a garden. This year I want to concentrate on what will attract the butterflies and bees. The way our house is situated, the only good amount of sun we get is on the side of the house. That's where I shall be doing a whole lot of planting this year since we got rid of some very unsightly bushes that were long past their day in the sun :)

I think we're on the same wavelength as far as planning the garden. My winter is far from over though.

Most of my gardens are full of perenials, then I just buy a few hanging baskets and call it done . Not much of a green thumb

No not yet... Haven't dug that list back out yet. We just got some snow yesterday - barely enough to shovel!

I got a seed calendar in the mail the other day and I need to look through it and see what we are going to plant. Our soil is terrible so I'm rethinking what veggies to plant and I'd like to plant some native plants in the front yard (where we get the most sun) in preparation to have some bees one day. Baby steps!
