A Busy Week With Wonderful Weather

It has been a busy week for me . Why we, meaning Miggs and I , have been outside everyday from sunrise to sunset in our yard and gardens doing  weeding, salvaging some plants from the harsh winter we had  or raking up small twigs and branches from the trees that shed their old ones and fall to the ground in the winds to just kicking back and taking in the warm sunshine and all the birds we have in and about our yard . Can you believe it I have counted 30 or more breeds/species of birds  either stopping by on their migration and or staying about the valley and our yard   WOW ! most have stayed  hehe ! everything from the tiny Warblers to large prey birds we have . I am such a lucky Country Gal to live in a valley on the migration path (HAPPY DANCE ) ! Next will be different breeds of butterfly's , oh boy ! again (HAPPY DANCE)

It was a late start to the spring here but everything seems to of caught up just nicely !

In my last post I did was about our youngest son James going off to Alberta for the summer for a job at a lovely resort just on the boarder  of British Columbia and Alberta at the foot of the rocky mountains in Jasper. The lodge is called Sunwapta Falls Rocky Mountain Lodge and it is beautiful from what he tells me, he is still settling in so photos may be a while lol ! Here's a bit of info on the name , Sunwapta : Stoney Indian word meaning "turbulent river" or "radiating waves" (as in ripples, small waves in a circular shape created after dropping an object in water). A number of geographic features in Jasper National Park of Canada have been named after this name: Sunwapta Peak - 3,315 meter's. We were texting last night and he is thrilled to be there .

I have been taking lots of photos here to as it is the first part of my favorite season , summer is my ultimate fave lol !

MAY 2018 (2 of 36)MAY 2018 (7 of 36)                   Another Oriel breed we have , this above is the Orchard Oriel , not as bright as the Baltimore's but just as pretty sounding  and just a funny to watch lol !

MAY 2018 (15 of 36)One of one many Warblers we have here , this is the Yellow Warbler . All the Warblers are tiny but powerful pretty singers and they are hard to photograph much like our hummers who have been back for a week now  as they are always on the move and hard to see as the buds on the trees are opening now .

This is a Lucy’s Warbler below photo , This little guy is another tiny bird and hard to see wayy up in the tree ! I Identify them by their calls since it is so hard to get a good look at them I use the Cornell Of Ornithology website on my smart phone to hear the sounds of each breed and can play it back and that also attracts them to stay about a bit longer as they think it is another bird in the area lol sneaky aren't I ?!

MAY 2018 (19 of 36)This cute little Rose Breasted Grosbeak gets the feeder all to himself in the late evening's now  but this time he decided to take a peek at what's there in the afternoon !

MAY 2018 (11 of 36)                                               Early every morning as the sun rises the bunnies come out to play !

MAY 2018 (22 of 36)We have a Mrs Morning Dove in the nesting box you can see just peering at me  this year in our birch tree , Papa took a peek and she has two babies he said she has been there a while as they looked  almost grown  just a bit of down feathers on their heads to develop into adult feathers and they will be off and flying soon .

MAY 2018 (28 of 36)

Miggs has been loving this weather to as she has been watching and patrolling the yard every day and we have enjoyed our walks in the early mornings .

MAY 2018 (16 of 36)                                                                               Ok and snoozing in the sunshine lol !

Miggs is enjoying her swing again as her leg is better now and she can climb up on it with out hesitation thanks to Papa who fixed it up for her and made it a lot more sturdy and less lets say swingy lol if that's even a word  .

On the weekend evening's after our yard work Papa and I have been enjoying a nice relaxing   chiminea fire out on our porch as the sun sets and the birds serenade us   as we wind down for the night  ,   we have a smaller TV that can be hooked up out on the patio so we can watch some of our shows or a movie    .

Ok well that's about it I don't want to go on to long and bore you all to tears lol !

                                                                                                Until next time

P.S it will be shorter post , maybe lol !

Jasper is fantastic, we’ve been there 4 times. Lovely birs, warblers are in the area but hardly come to the garden. Today we’ve also been watching the oriole and grosbeak. Haven’t seen the hummer yet. Enjoy this lovely time of the year.

I loved this post! I loved reading about the bird watching you've been doing, and I can't help but think they're staying because they are enjoying the eats in your yard! :-) As for your lovely yard, I wish it was cool enough here for a bleeding heart. Since my time in Alaska, I've always loved them.

Tell Miggs to keep up the good work! Take care, and enjoy your weekend!
