The Last Days Of Summer & The Changing Of Seasons

Yup  ,  fall will be upon us soon  . The nights and mornings are getting quite chilly and dewy here now , why this morning we woke to a chilly 7C  or 45°F  and a bit of fog rolling about to  as the sun rises to the promise of another lovely day .

Our weekend was nice and relaxing for a change , the weather was superb a bit of rain on Saturday then the rest of the weekend was sunshine with cloudy periods and cool breezes , you can smell fall in the air now .

The birds and especially the hummers have been busy at the feeders . The hummers are getting ready to migrate fairly soon and are feasting at the sugar water feeders like mad , I went from hardly seeing any through out the summer and them not visiting the feeders very much to 4 of them zooming about  resting in the trees above their feeders and feasting and fighting over the feeders lol . They are fun to watch and hard to capture to but there is the odd time they rest on the branches .

This little guy above was telling some one off the entire time as he and another hummer were battling it out for the feeder and territory  or it was  probably me he was telling off as I hid under the branches where I say him resting   lol  as I was photographing him as he chirped and chirped away .

They are smaller then the leaves on the trees and very hard to spot to !

We have had the odd unusual  visitor to our water feature at the back in the early mornings .

This is a juvenile Northern Flicker above  , they are very skittish birds but also very interesting to see and watch !

They don't like to be spotted by  me at all as this one lands just out of sight of me  and hides , but I managed to snap a shot .

Our mini sunflowers are hanging in there in our big old tree . There is just something I like so much about the look of them in the tree with the bark in the back ground  and the early morning sun shining on it all , sort of a rustic feel and look  .

Miggs was watching something in the field whilst we were out there !

I guess that something wasn't very interesting after all as she raced to get her toy for me to have a few tosses of it for her !

The end of summer days as the flowers in the garden's give their once more burst of beauty .

The leaves are slowly falling bit by bit now and the odd tree is changing as well . Oh the last days of summer  sad to see them go as we slide  into fall , but fall is a nice time of the year to as the trees burst with such wonderful colour and the air is fresh and cool and the sun is an inviting warmth ,…. seasons …. , what a lovely variety we have  of them .

                                                                                        Until next time .

Miggs looks so pretty in the light!

The birds are definitely feeling fall coming. We had the rain overnight on Saturday- some spectacular lightning. The following morning was a lot cooler.

Love the Northern Flicker shot. I've had one here, two years ago. Enjoyed your photos.

You have such great pictures! I just love you and Miggs up there on side. His face is adorable!! Our hummingbirds have been swooping and fighting and buzzing around too. Sometimes it feels like they barely miss flying right into you! You have a beautiful yard!
