New Feathered Friend To The yard

Thursday evening as I was sitting on the back patio porch having my evening cuppa tea . I saw this white bird fly into our tree between the sheds , curious as I always am I got my camera and went to see if I could see it and get photos .

It was a pretty white and light tan Dove , one I have never seen before  . I approached closer and closer with my camera and he didn't flinch at all not a budge of movement  , he was watching me and napping . So I took photos  .

Then by Friday morning when we were out doing a bit of work this pretty dove who I now named snowy came down to check the place out and what Papa was doing .

Snowy didn't quite oblige to Papa yet to sit on his finger he/she still wasn't sure of us .

Then Snowy flew to the bird bath and had a drink and sat for a bit .

And let me get close with my camera as I gently moved up closer and closer !

Papa Miggs and I went out for the day as we had to take Miggs to the groomers for another bath and clean up and do a few bits and bobs whilst we were out .

When we got home Snowy was sitting on top of the bird feeder hanger just watching the yard . I approached him/her talking to him/her as I was trying to get him/her to come and sit on my hand and take food  I am just a little to short to reach up far enough to introduce Snowy to my hand so Papa did it for me as snowy hopped on his hand and then he let snowy  onto my hand and he got my camera .

I was watching Miggs making sure she doesn't get to close and scare Snowy but that didn't seem to bother him/her .

Papa took a movie of Snowy and I but I cant get it to work here but that's ok you get the idea and how joyful I am here by the photos lol .

So we have a tame feathered friend bunking with us in our yard . I don't know how long Snowy will stay but in the mean time we will look after him/her the best we can . Snowy likes to perch in the cedar hedges at the top all snuggled in or the tippy top of our big old tree for the night and comes down in the mornings for food and a drink when we are out there and to sit a bit on our hands and visit  .

                                                                                  Until next time .

What a lovely visitor, and a tame one too. Wonderful to get photos of it on your hand.

Wow, Elaine. At first I thought she may be ill like our little purple finch was but I see she looks healthy. Isn't that amazing that she is so tame. Have you ever seen anything like that? Could she have been tamed by someone before and now in a different area, I wonder. She is absolutely beautiful. I LOVE the last photo. Send that in to a nature magazine. I can see how thrilled you are. :)))

What a fun and lovely visitor! Do you think it's a pet that got loose, was let go? However Snowy got there, I'm glad she/he has found safety in your corner of the world!

I wonder if this is someone's escaped pet? Now what made you think she would come to your hand? She's a beauty, and what a good thing she found your place to roost ... a haven for all the feathered friends :)

If he is that tame he may be an escapee. He is gorgeous

We have a 'snowy' as a sparrow who also comes down to be fed and even knocks on the window if we are a bit late. Gorgeous photos xx
