The Brown Thrasher I had mentioned a few posts back that I have been chasing all over the place to get his photo . Mind you he seems to stick to the out side of the fields in the tippy tops of the trees but oh he sings and chats so wonderfully and he finally came close enough for me to at least tempt to get his photo all though still a bit farther away then I would of liked but hey ya cant have everything now can ya lol .
Not the clearest shots as he insists on staying out of range but heck I will take these !
This bird is a member of the Mocking bird family and can sing up to 1100 different calls . Brown Thrashers skulk in shrubby tangles or forage on the ground below dense cover. They’re most obvious when they sing their loud songs from shrubs and treetops. The song is a complex string of many musical phrases (many copied from other birds’ songs, with each phrase typically sung twice before moving on). They also make a distinctive, harsh tsuck note . Their habitat is scrubby fields, dense regenerating woods, and forest edges are the primary habitats of Brown Thrashers. They rarely venture far from thick undergrowth into which they can easily retreat.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VmPxm-aKNUk This is a video of the Brown Thrasher I got off of YouTube so you can hear what I have been hearing for a few weeks now in our area , he sings and chats wonderfully as it echoes through out the fields and valley . I would love to do my own video of the Thrasher but he just doesn’t want to be on camera at all lol .
It is a rainy on and off day here today but the temps are pleasant at 10C or 50F and warmish winds and Mr Brown Thrasher has been chatting and singing up a storm of his own so far today high in the tree tops !
Until next time .

Oh, very cool, Elaine. I'll watch for them. I love the photos you captured. It's raining here, too so it's inside jobs and I just bathed our Kane. He smells like a flower. hahaha!
Oh, how sweet is that. I just listened to her and so did Annie. Now she's looking for the bird. :)
Pretty captures of your Brown Thrasher. I have not seen one yet this season.. I also love your header! Enjoy your day and have a happy week ahead!
I don't think I have ever seen one of those. Raining here, but the sun is trying to come out as well.
We have one that has been here all winter enjoying the sunflower seeds. Didn't know what he sounded like. love his color.
Well done for capturing the Trasher with your camera! The sun has been out today and quite warm (weekend looks to be rainy again!). Give Miggs a huge hug from me xx
Looks like you did a great job of capturing a picture of this thrasher. Too bad he wasn't just a bit closer, or that you had a longer lens?
Glad you got this bird photographed finally.
How interesting! Lucky you got the photo finally!
They nest here every year...but it's always exciting to see them! Saw the first Northern Flicker of the season yesterday!

It;s a beauty. I'm not sure if I've ever seen one.
i'm jealous! used to love seeing these birds in wisconsin! we get mockers here but no thrashers seen.
Hi Elaine, Love hearing about the different birds you have. WE had Mocking Birds in Ca., but as much as I loved their song they were very aggressive birds. Our red wing blackbirds also have a wonderful song.
Thanks for sharing the beauty of your world with us!
Hugs, Noreen
Sunshine here. You should be very pleased with the picture, it is good.
I can relate to chasing a bird around to try and get pictures - but you succeeded a lot better than I usually do!
That number of calls is amazing.
