A Mild Snowy Day

We had a good weekend , It was a quiet weekend till  I got my own lawn tractor lol ! Papa took the battery out and put it in the back of the mudroom  so it doesn't die in the cold over the winter  as my tractor Betsy is for the summer lol !

Any who  the weather today has been mild  and snowing on and off  -2°C  or 28°F  and no winds .  The snow that has  been falling is that heavy sticky snow  I wont say wet snow cause to me snow is always wet lol ! the kind that is good for making a snow man or snow lady if you prefer lol ! .DECEMBER 2014 (1 of 1)-12

So I went out and did some shovelling around the walk ways and am waiting for Papa to come home so I can fire up the snow blower . I have been working on using the snow blower but still not confident enough yet to do it with out Papa here but getting there ! The birds are feasting after I filled their feeders up yet again and then Miggs and I went for a nice walk . I like the winters when it is sunny or mild so I can get out and about and besides I need to walk these off as I have been snacking on one a day with my mid morning coffee ! Banana chocolate chip and also Blueberry Muffins  some winter comfort food  , lol I  have to back off cause my muffin top will be getting bigger lol !

I cant believe  how many of  these Purple finch we had in our crab apple tree this morning  , there must of been 15 to 20 of them maybe even more lol !

JANUARY 2015 (3 of 12)

I have never seen this many at one time here ,  there were so many I couldn't get them all in the photos and be able to see them in the photos  either as I had to take these  photos  from the patio or they would of flown off if I had gotten any closer !  !

The valley forest is soo bare now I can see right through it to the top of the valley  from our yard , it is soo pretty in every season though !

One of our male Cardinals was enjoying a snack earlier this afternoon .

JANUARY 2015 (10 of 12)

Then came along some of his friends .

The sun is peeking out every now and then and it is to be sunny for the next few days that’s good news for me  but the temps are going to drop and the winds are to be nasty again with wind chill warnings in place , so I will take advantage of these mild days  and enjoy the sunshine on the cold ones !

                                                                                     Until next time !

Oh look at Miggs, he looks as though he has had a snowball or two - just too cute! Those muffins look lovely and I bet there are none left now (well, it's comfort food weather isn't it!). Keep safe and warm - just like Betsy xx

Your weather sounds much like ours. We have milder temps today but the cold is on it's way. That Miggs is such a cutie. I understand about the need to walk. I walked downtown today, met a friend, had fish and chips and walked back. Somehow I doubt that will help me lose any weight. haha! Love your bird photos and your bird feeder. Deb

Did Miggs build that snowman? Such a talented dog indeed.

Another cold snap coming -- at least here.

The crab apple tree is magnet for birds. Our goldfinches haven't been around for a few days ... did they go to visit you? Lots of juncos, doves and bluejays though.

Those little birds in the trees and bushes can really get to talking up a storm... at least until a person passes by and they seem to fall silent.

We've had snow all day long here and -2 as well. Colder tonight at -18 again. Brr. It's hard to believe we're almost to the middle of January already. So nice to see so many purple finches in your trees! And that red cardinal is beautiful. Have a cozy night.

Miggs looks very proud of her snowman!! I know what you mean about wet snow. That is the sort that we get when it snows, I call it heavy snow! It isn't the light fluffy blowy stuff! xx
