Another New Bird In Town

Papa and I were out side all day yesterday  as it was a beautiful day ,sunny and summer like temps  and we both saw this little blue bird  and we were both trying so hard to get a good look at him with out scaring him to see what markings he had and the shape of his beak  to try to match him in our bird book for identification . Papa had his camera handy so he took the photos this time of this pretty little  guy !

Indigo Bunting (1)

He was flying from feeder to feeder trying his best to hang on and eat , guess he needs more practice !

Indigo Bunting (2)

Well I found  out who he is in our bird book after getting a good look at Papa’s photos !

He is a Indigo Bunting !

Never seen one of them around here  , I hope he wasn’t just passing through and stays !

Indigo Bunting (3)

It is amazing how many new birds we get pop in from time to time and that we are able to capture them on our cameras for our bird archives !

                                                                                     Nice photos Papa !

The big storms that were predicted last night missed us and all went south of us over Lake Erie  . It is to be another lovely day today , already is a warm morning  as the sun has risen , 13°C or 55°F  going to hit a muggy 22°C feel like 28 °C or 72°F feel like 82°F  maybe a little shower or two !

I haven’t been around in blog land as much as I usually am reading all your lovely posts but after being cooped up for so long over the nasty winter and with this beautiful weather we are having  I have been outside enjoying nature and our gardens  , I will catch up with ya all soon .

Birds are singing and Miggs and I are off for our walk .

Until next time my friends !

Lucky you seeing an indigo bunting. We saw one years ago passing through the garden but haven't seen one since. I wonder if you will spot it again in the garden ... I sure hope so.

Glad that you have been enjoying some time outside, much better for the soul than being indoors!! Your new bird is beautiful, I hope that he does indeed stick around and that we get to see him some more. xx

I was at a city event over the weekend and they had a booth where people are trying to save the blue birds here in Santa Clarita Valley. They said we used to have thousands of them but they have dwindled down to just a couple of hundred. We have scrub jays that are blue, but no actual Blue Birds.

What great photos! We have Indigo Buntings here too, but I've not yet seen them--I guess it's because they're in your time zone! :-)

I'd say get out there and enjoy. The weather is too good to stay inside for long. Papa's photos of the Indigo Bunting are great!

Hi Elaine... Oh lucky you, they are so beautiful!! I saw one years ago and not one since :( !
Love this time of year when all the birds are migrating, and singing away while everything is hopping at the pond next to me in the field!!

Hope the rest of your week goes well!!
