Oh Those Lazy Breezy August Summer Days

AUGUST 2016 (53 of 63)

The weather has been lovely here  , sunny not to humid more heat then humidity I can handle that better and cool summer breezes . This time of the season lots of activity well ok maybe not much from Miggs as you see here lol  but in the  rest of the yard and gardens there is as all prepare for migration .

The ever elusive hummer this season lol ! They are feasting up a storm now .

As are all the butterfly's and moth creatures !

AUGUST 2016 (24 of 63)

A rarity but a happy one for me to get photos of these pretties as they always seem so skittish and best thing is I got photos of two of them  together YIPPY !  I am so happy about that .

These were smaller then others I have seen so I am guessing this years hatchlings .

Then they decided to split up again and well one at a time in photos  lol !

AUGUST 2016 (54 of 63)

Being down in a valley we get more moisture then the top of the valley and having a river run through it helps keep the moisture to then lots of rain after not having any for some time we develop mushrooms in our grass , thankfully Miggs doesn't like the smell of them so she wont eat them .

AUGUST 2016 (55 of 63)

Cicada skin below any one ?!

They shed the outer shell like a snake sheds it’s skin and Miggs found this clung to the garden edging  I had to move it to get photos as it was clinging in an odd positon to photograph !

This is Mr Dove's fave place to perch now in the mornings and evenings as the sun sets .

AUGUST 2016 (4 of 63)

Afternoon snacks of safflower seed !

And a nap for Miggs !

AUGUST 2016 (3 of 63)

Well that's about it like I said the yard and gardens are busy once again with the cool breezes and the preparation for migration  , some leave at the end of the month which is flying by , by the way and others through out September whish is  creeping upon us soon already !

                                                                                    Until next time .

It sure is nice to get out in the garden and enjoy it without that awful humidity. Great capture of the butterflies together, I haven't got many photos of them this year as like you say they are very skittish. I did get a big orb spider yesterday as it sat in the middle of its web. We have been enjoying more walks by the water now the weather is nicer. Enjoy the weekend.

Great shots of the critters. Miggs looks very relaxed.

I wonder if you are hearing the Cicadas yet? I had a hard time making out the shell/skin-we get them yearly, unlike other parts that get them every 7 yrs. We had a big storm a bit ago-with thunder and heavy rain. Seems late in the season for it, but we aren't going to complain about the rain.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Your pictures are so pretty! If we can make it until Monday, we are supposed to have cooler temperatures and lower humidity. I can hardly wait! It has been terribly hot here. Miggs is always so cute!

What great shots of the hummers in action, Elaine. And butterflies were one of my favorite garden subjects when we lived on the VA eastern shore. I agree that catching them in action can be a challenge.
