Spring Is In The Air

Yes I know and so is the cold , The temps have been very cold –25C with no winds earlier this morning when Miggs  and I went for our walk  earlier in the morning  Then  I was out taking photos  later in the morning and the temps have warmed up to -16°C  winds are calm for now , the sun is shining and not a cloud in the beautiful deep blue sky .  The sun has been shining almost every day and the sun is getting warmer to as it now has a UV index reading . As the sun shines on the snow it melts just a bit more each day  and the icicles drip like mad . February is almost over one more day then in to March we go . Spring is in the air according to all the birds as the males are singing their hearts out and doing their fancy dance for the ladies as the ladies look on with no interest at all , eyes roll  for the guy’s , typical  ! lol .

I often think to wonder if maybe  the female birds when the males are dancing for them and acting all goofy  sit back watch and think to them selves or say to each other ,  really ? come on you got to be kidding lol ! Yeah ok not now I have things to do lol !  I could just imagine lol !

I was soo pleased I was able to get some good  closer photos of the birds today as they are getting used to me being about with camera in hand all though some still seem to play peekaboo with me lol !

FEBUARY 2015 (35 of 41)

We have 9 male and 5 female Cardinals who occupy our feeders and  Cedar hedges this year . !

FEBUARY 2015 (13 of 41)

The Chickadees are so quick and nosey !

FEBUARY 2015 (21 of 41)

The Blue jays are all over the place and there are lots of them this year with their squawking , screeching  and making the clicking sound that they do , oh my goodness loud noisy birds and when they start making  hawk  like calls to get all the other birds away from the food so they can swoop in well that’s funny as the other birds don't pay any attention to them  they know the  real hawks lol !

FEBUARY 2015 (19 of 41)

Mr Downy was busy tap, tap taping away at a seed on the branch !

FEBUARY 2015 (8 of 41)

Mean while Miggs was enjoying the sun and of course the taste of snow !

FEBUARY 2015 (27 of 41)

Oh and napping in a snow bank , crazy dog !

FEBUARY 2015 (33 of 41)

I was taking photos left right and center of all I could and thinking oh boy spring is in the air I can see it in the trees the birds are especially frisky and feel it in the sunshine .

Mr Cedar head snow man Papa built a few weeks ago is slowly melting he has no eyes and no mouth left

                                                                                             poor fellow lol !

FEBUARY 2015 (26 of 41)

All the birdies seemed to be  cooperating beautifully for their portraits for me  !

FEBUARY 2015 (17 of 41)

All though some were farther away from me then others but I still managed to snap a photo of them !

Regardless of the snow we still have or may get and the cold temps still hanging about nature knows when spring is in the air and if you stop to look and listen  it will tell you , now I am waiting for the arrival of the Robins and when they show up it is spring to me and I will be taking lots of photos of them as they are my favourite song bird !

Papa and I were in the city yesterday I for a Dr’s appointment a specialist  an  Endocrinologist  or in other words a hormone specialist as when the hormones are out of whack they can cause all kinds of health problems . . I had mentioned way back in Sept in a post that I had a spot on my pituitary gland  , It is a small tumour of 4 milometer's but the specialist said it really isn’t anything to worry about as having a tumour there is ok cause it can be treated with meds  and gone for good and I don't have to live on meds either for it , once it is gone it is gone  so that is encouraging  and she said she cant see it being cancerous either , So she took lots of blood to rule out  other things or detect other things which ever shows up for them and I am to go and see her again in April and we will take it from there !  So for now my health is up and down  and I still  take each day at a time and have my good and bad days  and take it all in stride .

                                                                                    Until next time

oh dear me, I hope there are more good days than bad? As always super photos of the birdies. Miggs is such a sweetie there in the snow.

Have a super weekend.

You have taken some really nice photos. There have been two cardinals sighted here on the Island; a male and female. But they are up west of us. Hopefully they will grow their family as we have never had cardinals here before. I have always wanted to see one.
I am glad you can be treated for your medical problem. When we don't have good health it can throw a wrench into all we do and enjoy. Take care.

Blessings,
Sandi

Hello; I love reading that you are seeing signs of spring-because I always think your winters are harder than ours. You do have the most beautiful birds! WE have Doves, Magpies, Hawks and Eagles. I would trade the Hawks for Cardinals though. I love seeing the birds and hearing them as well.
Our snow is melting today, with more on the way this weekend to last through next week. We don't count on spring til mid-May. Have a wonderful weekend.
Hugs, Noreen

When it's unseasonably cold in Texas today, it's hard to imagine Spring in the air. We are even expected to get some sleet and snow!

Beautiful photos! Such a fun post. According to the birds, spring is definitely in the air. We'll be spotting a robin very soon; the first sign that spring is definitely on its way!

So happy to see birds in all your photos, and Miggs too...even though it is so cold. I actually saw a little troop of Robins all fluffed up on the ground yesterday. Spring may be coming here eventually too!

Ah finally spring is springing around everywhere. Our lilacs are getting some buds swelling...and there are new grass shoots. My favorite time of year.

Love your bird shots, and it's nice to see the different types of birds that are in other places.

Aren't all the birds so fascinating? And what lovely shots of them all. So glad that spring is on its way to you.

Beautiful shots! Admittedly, spring still feels far away here.

Hi Elaine, I always enjoy the variety of birds you have in your yard. It certainly is a great and sheltered spot for them with the cedar hedge for protection. I'm glad you found out your health problem and hope it can be adjusted with the meds. Hormones can really mess things up. Take care. Pam

Lovely to see all the birds, they are here too. I'm still on the lookout for a robin .. have you seen or heard one yet? You always seem to get them a week or so before us. Glad that you have found out what is wrong and that it can be treated with medication instead of surgery. Take care.
