Another Cold One Today

The sun has been shining and that’s good but the temps have been brutally cold  for this past week .  At  7 am  this morning  -28°C  Feels like –34°C or  -18°F Feels like -29°F not nice to wake up to that at all as the house has been  chilly and cracking and creaking  and making all kinds of noises in this cold  . Again there is another extreme cold warning from the weather network  .   All around  the valley village  I see lots of wood smoke from fireplace chimneys with  the wonderful of it wafting in the cold crisp air  I love that smell   and  see the  steam from furnaces pipes  pumping  out in the cold air like mad to keep all warm  .  Miggs and I have been able to get a small walk in but then after that in we go and cozy by the fire !

Later this afternoon the temps are to rise a bit and snow is to fall  , for the over night to and into tomorrow ! But the good thing is there  day light savings is on March 8th  we go forward   an hour  and only 28 days till Spring as Spring arrives on  March 20th  so I am looking forward to all that for sure !

I couldn’t believe my eyes yesterday  this  feeder was crowded with Cow birds . yes Cow birds who aren't  supposed to be back till at least April  a little early I would say , maybe they know something we don't lol  and the male Cardinals are singing their mating songs now so maybe the birds do know and are telling us spring is just a round the corner . Now I am waiting for the Robins return .

FEBUARY 2015 (1 of 12)

The past few days although cold the sun has risen earlier each day  and rises farther up the eastern horizon now  and sets farther up the western horizon and later each evening  I am loving that !.

FEBUARY 2015 (9 of 12)

In this extreme cold this is basically what we have been doing  .. well I don't stick my tongue out lol We have been keeping warm, enjoying the sun shining and  keeping the feeders full and watching the birds and critters through my windows  and  just basically waiting out this very cold snap in hopes for warmer temps to hit soon .

Until next time stay safe and cozy .

What a precious sweetie your Miggs is. That last photo is beyond adorable. All your photos are fabulous. The fire in your stove is a treat. We are told by the forecasters that there is a 100% chance of heavy snow tomorrow in our part of Virginia. We will be battening down the hatches. Stay safe and warm :)

That photo of your fur baby is absolutely adorable! The camera LOVES Miggs. Very cold here lately, as well. At least the days are getting longer.

What a great picture of Miggs...those eyes! Your fire looks lovely...we will have high 60s today in Texas, then drop down again next week into the 30s in the morning. It's been a roller coaster. But at least we don't have to wait very long for the sun to warm things up.

I hope all the birds are right and Spring will be here sooner rather than later!

The cold's pretty much well settled here as well. Miggs is such a sweetie, even with her tongue stuck out!

Word has it that March will be colder than usual. How much, I do y'know.

Oh my that's cold. Buttons described it as when your nose freezes today in her post...perfectly put.

Stay warm, thank goodness you have a wood stove! Wood heat is wonderful.

I left a reply to your wonderful comment on my post today...and I so appreciate your being with me on my blogging journey.

Your log burner looks so cozy, and I just bet it is soooo warm !
Minus 30 and we think it's cold being minus 3, *shiver*.
I tend to worry about the pipes freezing, but you've probably got them wrapped in those electrical tapes.
Sweet Miggs, just the most beautiful face.
Stay warm and safe.
Hugs,
~Jo

Well I am glad that you don't have your tongue hanging out! Lol! I think that your plan of staying indoors is a good one!! The creaky house noises must be disconcerting though, I hope they stop soon. xx

You sure are in a cold snap there Elaine. I'm kind of glad it's not quite that cold here but we're getting more snow in exchange I guess. It's nice to see some signs of spring in the birds and the sun isn't it? Enjoy the weekend.
