Miggs Enjoying The Sun

 

Yesterday was nice and sunny and not as cold as it has been . Miggs and I went for a walk and played in the back yard . Then I took photos of her playing in the snow .

                 

                                                  Oh how Miggs loves to play in the snow !

                                      She looks like a big teddy bear or a lion when she runs  with all that fur flying !

                                           Miggs really puts on a good show for me to practice my action shots !

                             I have a  funny story I want to share with ya all that happened to me this morning !

         Our regular readers of our blog know that there is one birds return for me that spells spring is here , right  ?

                                                                                well get this lol !

The weather this morning is remarkably warm -1°C or 30°F compared to how cold it has been this is tropical , so when I got up this morning I did my usual morning routine, get my tea read blogs and so on then after  whilst I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth I looked out the window at our blossom tree that is in the back yard just to see some birdies , well I had to do a double take as the morning was still dusk like , I thought I was going bonkers , I looked again and to my eyes saw a bird  silhouette that I only see in the spring and I thought ok ,  I know ya want spring to be here badly but come on this is nuts , so I went to get my bird binoculars opened the back door found the birds in the tree and HOLLY MOLLY !! I was right 5 count them 5 Robins in our tree . Now how about that wake up call  . I thought to myself  WHAT ?? you got to be joking , already ? mother nature is out of whack for sure now , but nice to have the Robins here already . So with a smile on my face I continued my morning with Miggs and we enjoying a long walk  listening to all the birds chirping with glee and flying here and there with  happiness of the warmer temps .

                                       Could it be possible that we are to get an early Spring ?  I hope so !

This N That

 

      Is is still cold all though not as cold as it has been the temps   ..  -6°C feels like -14°C or 21°F feels like 7 °F not to bad at all , the sun is shining on and off  as clouds roll by  .

Miggs and I went for a nice walk earlier this morning , then when we came back , I filled the birdies feeders and took some photos .

                                                              Miggs just loves to cool off in the snow !

                        Papa built this feeder years ago , just one of the many feeders I have for my birdies and critters !

                                 I love how this  looks , so peaceful and pretty , under our little Cedar hedge forest !

                                                 

                                      Browns, greens and white , I knew I could find more colour then just all white !

                           Look deep with in the branches  in the shadows , there is a little White Throated Sparrow !

                                             

                                                                    And a little Dark Eyed Junco to, soo cute !

                                                         It is amazing what you can see if you take a moment

                                                            with camera in hand to stand still look and listen

                                                                               nature  will come to you .

Today In Canada

 

                   Is Mental Health day  we call it  Lets Talk  sponsored by Bell Canada .

          1 in 5  Canadians  suffer from one form or another of Mental Health Illness  and 1 in 3 seek the help they need .  Every day we should talk about it but today is a day where our country gets the word out that there is nothing to be ashamed of  and it is part of life and to make the first step to getting help by talking to a friend , family member   or better yet  your doctor  is all in  the first step   to get that help one needs .

Mental Health Illness is important to me as I myself was diagnosed years ago with depression due to things that were going on in my life  of a harsh first marriage of 18 years and with two boys  to worry about I could not handle any of it due to being verbally and mentally abused  and it all took it’s toll and affected me physically and mentally and I ended up in hospital due to a nervous break down  . I got help and it did help a lot . I used to keep a journal of how I was feeling and what went on in my days at the time and I also was taking medication which for  me  helped a lot  . I was doing well for a while there  after I got out of the marriage and started a life of my own and met Papa  . Then I had a set back when my mum suddenly passed away 5 years ago and I slipped back into depression . I couldn’t go to work for headaches and feeling ill and in physical pain every day . I struggled with it for a long time on top of other things that I was still dealing with   from my past that kept creeping up  .  I recently found out that my oldest son is also dealing with depression and has seen his doctor  and is now getting the help he needs and we talk through face book or on the phone and is feeling better . Mental Health Illness  will not go away but it can be controlled and treated by the right medications , doctors and talking about it  to family, friends  and a psychotherapist or other type of doctor who is in the field of Mental Health . 

There are a lot of TV and Movie stars that have come to terms and reached out and shared their struggle with their  Mental Health  Illness and even Olympic athlete's and other athletes  have reached out and talked about it , so we  are not alone .  There are lots of symptoms to look out for  when one has Mental Health  Illness  and to know what they are is important  so that  we can help or can get the help one needs  , could be a friend , family member or co worker .    

I have never really spoken about this to all of you  as I try to not let it take over my life  and make it an issues as  I have been feeling better with in my self and am no longer on medication , my medication is my family , friends like you all , my Miggs , my photography  and being in a place I love with lots of nature and most of all my  Ken  AKA Papa , who has helped me in more ways then one by being by my side , understanding  and unconditionally  loving me for who I am .

  So please help those who need help with Mental Health Illness  by talking , it is the first step to getting help so they or yourself can feel better  and to live life to it’s fullest  !

Feeling Buried In It !

 

        Snow that is .  We have had more snow this month then we have had in 10 years of winters, or at least it feels like it ! . It is unreal , seems like we have been shovelling it for ever , trust me  this  old  former farm gal  would prefer to be shovelling some thing else lol !

                        

                                           The piles at the  bottom of our drive way are  getting bigger and bigger !

                   I just finished shovelling more snow after the over night snow fall  we had and Papa had been shovelling all weekend !

                                   Shovelling paths here and there so we don't loose poor Miggs in the deep snow !

All though knowing her , she wouldn’t mind lol !

The sun is shining so that's good but the winds are blowing and snow is flying all over the place

again !

After I shovelled out the drive and  some paths again I

  cleaned the feeders of snow and filled them all up again , birdies are all 

HAPPY, HAPPY  !

Good Old Fashioned

 

                        Canadian winter days .

    That’s what it was yesterday with high winds snow blowing around drifts every where and everyone

     being snow bound and snowed in .

                        To keep up with the snow and drifts Papa went out every now and then and cleared the snow .

                   

                                            As usual Miggs was supervising lol ! Daft dog loves this weather lol !

          Now before this picture below Papa was laying down against the drift which that part I didn’t see as I was            adjusting my camera settings I looked up and there was his hand just above the snow bank waving at me  taking a wee break  all though at first that’s not what crossed my mind as I didn’t realize he was playing around silly old fart  !

     There was a lot of snow and by the time Papa was done , each side of the driveway had about  3 1/2 feet of  snow !     

  After most of the day of  winds , blowing snow and drifting at about 4 pm it all settled down cleared out and the sun popped out just in time to end the day with it’s beauty as it set !

              

                                                 It was a good old fashioned Canadian Winter Day !

                          Today the snow is  falling again  for now winds are calm it is cold    -18°C feels like –24  °C

What We Woke Up To

 

                                 The winds have been howling all night and blowing snow  everywhere . 

                            The snow is stuck to the windows  drifted all up on the doors of just about every

                               building .

                                                          So Of course I had to take photos lol .

                                                      

                                                                   Most of the windows are like this !

                                               Door ways have drifts against them to all though this one is small !

                                   Looks like we have a lot of snow clean up to do but for now it will just have to stay

                                  as the winds will be roaring all day here .

                                             

                                                                          Thick heavy sticky snow !

                                                   

                                                                             Covering every thing !

                                               As it is blowing through the air creating white outs .

                     So looks like today is a stay in and putter snow day ! Watch movies , read blogs , do  laundry 

                       all in my cozy jammies   !

                                        This is the good old fashioned snow storms the kind I remember as a kid on the farm !

Windy & Cold

 

Today is very windy and cold the snow is blowing around like crazy . Temps are -16°C feels like -26°C and there is a wind chill warning in affect . 

                                          Miggs has got the right idea for todays windy cold  snowy day .

                                    Sorry Miggs no walk today we will just have to keep cozy indoors .

The weekend doesn't look to be any better weather wise either so I will be doing a lot of catching up on reading all your lovely blogs today and over the weekend !

Back in the day when I was kid on the farm the winters were much worse with lots more snow then we get now but when I was  a kid the snow and cold didn’t seem to get to me like it does now .

                                                         I was always out side playing in the snow with my dogs .

       Back then it was my mum who was the snap  happy camera person  I guess that is who I got the photo taking bug from  lol .

                      Some times even now you will find me out with my dog playing in the snow all bundled up.

                                                            

                           As I am typing this the sun is trying to shine through the cold wind and foggy cloud of blowing snow .

Fresh Snow

 

Woke this morning to a fresh layer of snow that had fallen during the night . So of course I had to go out ant take photos . I tried using my lens I always use my zoom 55-300mm but  as it was still dusk this lens was taking the photos way to dark no matter what I did so I went and got my   60 mm Micro  lens as it lets more light in this lens  doesn’t zoom  but it did do the trick for the lighting .

I just love a fresh snow fall ! It is mild out to not that frigid cold today so even better and it looks like the sun is trying to rise .

                                       

  The for  these photos below I switched back to my 55-300mm zoom  . As for the sun coming out well there was a beautiful display of sun light as it was rising  . 

              As it was rising the colour was brighter but yet almost muffled like the colour was being forced  .

                    Like the rays were being bounced back off of something  , could it be a Sundog sun rise .

Sundogs may appear as a coloured patch of light to the left or right of the sun, 22° distant and at the same distance above the horizon as the sun, and in ice halos. They can be seen anywhere in the world during any season, but they are not always obvious or bright. Sundogs are best seen and are most conspicuous when the sun is low.

                                                 I have no idea but what ever it was doing it was beautiful !

                                               Seemed like the higher it got the more hazy looking it got .

                           Is is a Sundog sun rise or just a sunrise shining through very moist air . I have know idea !

                                            Mild out this morning for a change from frigid  so that good .

                          Miggs and I will be going for another walk today . Yesterday we had a good walk she is such a good walking and photo buddy , oh talking about photos lol I put them on my other blog if you would like to pop over and see winter scenes from our walk around our Valley Village  yesterday, K & E Photography Blog if you do , leave us a comment on there if you would like .
