Busy Week Ahead !

 

                     Hey everyone .

 

        I have been reading  your blogs and catching up with what you all have been up to  .  Glad to see and hear all had a lovely Christmas and now the new year is upon us , can you believe another year has flown by  WOW !

Today Papa is busy with re vamping my laundry /mud room . We have a sink and cabinet that he moved from one side of the room to the other  that was beside my stacked washer and dryer so that he can un stack my dryer from my washer put them side by side and build a nice counter over them for me and shelves above that so he has lots of moving and capping and replacing of pipes to do first , his dad is helping to . Then he said  he  wants to build me a boot and shoe pantry as well as a broom pantry in the Laundry/ mudroom WOOHOO !!  I like that idea to hehe !

As for the weather we had lots of grass showing but not any more  , we woke to a winter wonderland again .

The wood stove is going and the guys are hard at work with my laundry/mudroom so I will just do what I can to help them today  like keep Miggs out of their way as she is a very nosey girl and always wants to see what one is doing lol !

We will more then likely be out for the count before midnight  to ring in the new year lol  but here’s hoping you all have a          Safe and Happy New Year !        WOW !  2014 !

Hi Everyone

 

                Just popped in to  say hi and that we are still here lol :

                   Hope you all had a good Christmas .

We did ,  that’s for sure .   Went for Christmas dinner at my in laws on Monday  roast lamb  and goodies YUMMY ! I cooked a roast ham , another YUMMY ! supper here for Christmas eve  for Papa and I , huge ham lots of leftovers so that was our supper for tonight to and for the next few meals lol . Santa paws left some goodies in Miggs and Harley’s stockings , some  treats and new toys  so they are happy . The weather hasn’t  been  to bad , snowing on and off with some sunshine here and there .  Our boy’s were able to make it down for the day  , it was good to see them  and catch up .   Now it is all quiet again .  Papa , the girls and I are all just relaxing and taking in the wonderful Christmas we had . This weekend we are going to a movie with some friends , it has been years since we have been to a movie theater so should be fun .  Papa and I may do a day trip here and there over the next week weather permitting , then the next event will be ringing in the new year  , Papa and I will not be partying, those days are over lol maybe this year we will make it to midnight , but one never knows lol . WOW ! 2014 , unreal  , the years just fly by don't’ they ? 

                       So If I am not back here before then  we would like to wish you all a safe and

No Ice Here

 

FEW !!  The ice storms have missed us . All we got was high winds and rain  since Friday !  It has now cleared up

some what , the winds are blowing cold and the sun is out here !

Most of our snow has gone now . I find being in a valley we get much different weather then the higher ground  and surrounding areas !.

                                   Miggs is happy the rain has stopped but boy oh boy is it mucky out there . !

                                                After days of gloominess  it is nice to see sunshine and blue sky’s !

                                                  Hope all who did get hit by the ice storms are safe and cozy !

In The Rain

 

It has been raining since yesterday early morning . Just after Papa got home from work we saw this big bird in our birch tree .

                               Both Papa and I grabbed our cameras and started snapping photos of this beautiful pray bird  from our computer room window . These birds rarely sit in back yard trees they are forest predators so this guy must of been hungry as he sat up there scoping out the yard .

He was watching us from  up there as he could see us moving from the other side of window , He would turn his head like an owl and stare . I tried to go to the mud room door as I could of got another photo of him out the door but as careful and quiet as I was and sneaking around the corner of the open door he saw my lens and that was that  ,gone like the wind !

                            The weather is to be raining all day and then temps are to drop and freezing rain will start !

                                                              So today will be another indoor puttering  day .

Weather Mix Up

 

Early this morning   started out raining and warm and still raining but the temps are slowly dropping . The rain drops on everything are hanging in a semi frozen state !

 

                             I love the look of rain drops as they are but when they are frozen even prettier !

                                                                             Like being frozen in time !

                                                 This little guy is getting the goods before it all freezes over !

                                   Miggs is still snuffling in what snow we have left  and looking like a drowned rat lol !

              By the time the temps really drop and all this rain freezes these leaves that are left on the tree will be in cased in

                                                                             ice ! More photo ops WOOHOO !

                                                           As will these berries left on the tree be in cased in ice ! .

The weather is to be very mixed up this today and all weekend with a mix of rain , snow , wet snow I have never understood that  isn’t snow already wet ? lol  and then a freezing rain storm . This weekend we will just hunker down stay inside and wait it all out . It will be a cozy weekend for us all here at Our Country Cove .

Get A Grip !!!

 

              

                On snow and ice that is !!

I have been meaning to get this type of thing for my winter boots for ages but it always seems to be one of those things  ya just go with out or keep forgetting to pick up so as I was mentioning it again this year mainly for me when Miggs and I go for our winter walks  so I don't end up  T*T s up or A** over heels  Papa bought us each a pair of these Gripons for our boots  from our Canadian Tire store.  He used his Gripons the other night to once again after another snow storm clear the drive way and said they are great . I was still yet to put them to the test on our walk as I walk on the unplowed packed snowed and  iced roads up and down hills we have here . Well let me tell you these are FANTASTIC !!   Even when Miggs pulls me on the odd occasion I don't end up skiing in my boots down hill any more and waddling like a penguin trying not to fall  lol

                      

This is the package from Papa’s Gripons . Mine are smaller lol . They have kids , men's and women's sizes ! They fit over your boots and are made from the rubber of tires  and the grips are metal studs  like cleats  and are just in the right place to and boy do they grip .

                          So if your like me and enjoy a nice  fresh winters day walk  and don't want to spend the entire time watching your footing  as to whether your gona  slip or not and enjoy the winter scenery instead I would recommend a pair or two of these Gripons ! 

  We are to be getting hit by yet another snow storm over the weekend  with rain and freezing rain so it will be a mess out there and one never knows  if our power will go out or for how long here in these storms .

Cold Moon

 

As I was making supper last night I looked out my kitchen window and saw the moon just beginning to rise from the  woods at the top of  valley . It was a beautiful a perfect sight .

 

                          I love the way the camera picks up the blue of the cold atmosphere ! This was taken from in side looking out the kitchen window .

I  then went outside on the front porch for this . It was soo quiet and all was still out there !

                             

I find the cold affects the lighting of photos no matter what you do especially taken at night ! If you look to the right on the roof you can see the moon light just beginning to reflect on the snow !

                         It was lovely watching the moon rise in the cold and quiet of the land !

Today the sun is popping out here and there . Miggs and I went for our walk and played in the yard as well then I filled my birdie feeders , it is some what mild out . I don't mind the snow if it is mild out and sunny   it is the bone chilling cold  and wind chills I don't like . We may get more snow falling later today .

Our Snowy Weekend

 

 

Well , We have lots of snow ! I figure we got a total of  a foot and a half of snow .

Todays weather

             -12°C   Feels like –19   or   10°F    Feels like –2  Good lord it is cold out there !

It snowed all weekend and never let up till at least 7 pm last night .   Saturday  was cold blowing and snowing hard  so I did the Christmas decorating  .   Yesterday Sunday  was mild so we   ventured out into the snow , Papa shovelled with help from his dad and his snow blower , paths to our sheds and my birdie feeders and Papa shovelled the  drive way  he did that a few times yesterday as the snow wouldn’t stop or slow down , he would of used his tractor and plough but it is still at our friends garage from the fall lol ! 

Any who …. after Papa did  the snow clearing he went in and I went out and played with Miggs  . I saw Papa sneaking some photos with my camera I leave on the kitchen table , cheeky bugger . Rare for me to be in the lens , I always the one on the other side of the camera lol

Yup that’s me lol lumber jacket and all , nothing fancy  just comfort  for this Country Gal !

               Miggs gets so excited when someone plays with her , even more so in the snow !

                       And there she goes  taking off running like the wind to fetch her rope ! Me doing a balancing act by the looks of it  , graceful I am not lol

Yup Miggs shakes the beegeeses  out her rope when she gets it and all the snow fly's from it everywhere !

Oh did I mention that fetch to Miggs is she gets it but doesn’t bring it back  , nope , you have to chase her then she drops it and challenges you to take it from her as you get closer to her she takes it and runs with it  lol ! Goofy dog ! Guess the Retriever in her doesn’t come out during the game of fetch lol

                                Still working on getting the rope from her here  lol !  Chase me Mum lol !

                                               I got it , WOOHOO !! and we had a bit of a cuddle to !

                                                            Well that was our snowy weekend .

Still Snowing

 

It started snowing yesterday early morning and hasn't let up yet , all though slowed down a bit .  The snow is now up to Miggs belly .

                                          Yup she is in the middle  of shaking all that fur lol !

                                                                 Miggs loves the snow !

                                      Papa was out shovelling snow as Miggs was watching him !

I spent the best part of the day taking my time putting up some Christmas decorations as I hadn’t yet started till then . We have gone less and with a smaller tree . I call it our Charlie Brown tree lol !

The Christmas teddies were my mums  , Miggs thought they were for her as she snuck one off  of the bench as I wasn’t looking lol  Then she realized they were only for decoration .

Miggs checks her stocking every day to see if Santa paws has been yet , not yet Miggs soon though . Harley well she couldn’t care about her stocking lol

   So this is what we have been doing whilst it has been snowing all done now a little less decorations but still pretty and ready for Christmas .
