Mixed Weather & Our Kitchen

The weather here today is mild , cold , windy, rainy, damp and yes even snowy  a mixed bag of all sorts . The snow is slowly melting and it is a sloppy mess out there !

At least this year we have had lots of moister from snow and the rains so our gardens and grass should be good to go this spring .

Papa has been slowly building my little pantry beside my fridge . We had to take a bit of the counter and cupboards out to move the fridge over as it was crammed in by the wall and I couldn’t open it all the way to clean it properly and I wanted a  pantry with high  deep shelves in it !

This is the before photo .

This old farm house was built in 1895 and this  kitchen is the original and it is a perfect size for us ! All we did was re paint it 2 years ago !

Eventually I would like the  rest of the old cupboard doors replaced to look like this one that Papa built and made in pine and put my favourite old farm house handle on . To get that lovely honey colour  and to protect the wood as well he shellacked it as it is also a sealer . He still has to make the other door for the bottom of the pantry but needs more material .  He did such a good job . I love it !

I am not much of a kitchen dweller lol but I like the old farm house cozy  mix matched look !

Until next time hope you have a good day !

What a lovely kitchen, and cozy too. With a great wood stove, and I also like the touch of the stairway having an opening in the wall...was that original or have you all made it that way?

great kitchen loe the size of it and love how you have the wood stove in there. I could do with more cupboard space in my kitchen.

Thanks also for the tip with the steel wool and paint remover.

Your kitchen is lovely! I have the same problem with the fridge too close to the wall. I am going to solve my problem a different way by getting a different fridge. We have our first side by side and want to get a top bottom with the freezer on the bottom next time. The side by side is not well suited for pizza! ;)

Very cozy, love it. I love my pantry too with the pull out shelves my hubby made for me; looking forward to having a large eat-in country kitchen some day.

I'd kill for your cupboard space! Our kitchen has barely any storage as it is an odd shape.

You have a lovey kitchen there. Can I borrow your papa next time I need something done? hehe! Lucky you! Great idea for the pantry as any extra storage is always welcome in a kitchen. Sue

I have kitchen envy :) Yours is lovely and the pantry cupboard is a great addition. My kitchen (from the early 70's) lacks space and character and cupboard space!

I love your kitchen! Such a good idea to move your fridge and put a pantry in the side space. Papa did a great job with it too, it all looks like it's been there since the beginning. I'm glad you kept the original kitchen too.
