Look ! It’s The Easter Bunny !

Well spring must be around the corner for the Robins came back last week , the male Cardinal is now singing his mating song and now  these little guys The Eastern Cottontail we only ever see them appear when it is spring time  or close to it .  Apparently they don't hibernate but we never see them in the winters .

The wildlife ( National Geographic ) people say that in winter, their diet becomes a bit coarse and consists of bark, twigs, and buds  looks like our little guys  love sunflower seeds .

Sneaking up for a snack he was ! Even in the summer they are under the feeders munching on seeds !

The wildlife( National Geographic ) people also say they don't nest in burrows or holes but in  shallow ground nests  , again not these Eastern Cottontails they burrow under our sheds and then after a few weeks we see tea cup size babies appear out from under the sheds like this little guy last spring  .

We have to  live trap  quite a few every year and relocate them in the woods far away as we can get taken over  by them !

As he was sitting up there snacking he  was watching me out of the corner of his eye the entire time as to what and where I was going and how close he would allow me to get , some of the bunnies here let us get with in a foot of them and others not so close !

They drive Miggs mad as they sit there and dare her to chase them  last year she was right on top of them in the chase and I think they realized just how fast this dog  really is and she can zig zag  just like they do so they have competition here with Miggs ! We do tell her no cause they don't hurt anything here and they are nice to look at and have around and I have know idea what Miggs would do to one if she ever caught it ! Papa and  I laugh and say she would probably just play with it roll it over a few times with her paw and try to pick it up and bring it in and introduce it to her other toys  like her teddy and hedge hog  lol one can only ever hope that’s what would happen !

Until next time , Have a good day !

                                             Thanks For Popping By !

Cute little guy/gal - smarty pants for sure. We have so many rabbit tracks under our bird feeder too. The other night, one had it's head in the snow, butt up, digging out old seeds under the several inches of snow we just received. They have been living in my bittersweet vines. Last year, while weeding my garden I felt something move under my hands - it was a nest of baby bunnies in a small hole. I was surprised that they were right on the top. I thought they dug deeper holes. Blessings from Ringle, WI.

Good Morning! What great photos! I did not know that about rabbits, and haven't seen any around yet. I also like having them around, and they drive our dogs crazy too--But unfortunately for the bunnies we have other critters that keep their population down.

Enjoy your day!!

We had quite a few cotton tail rabbits back home. So cute with their fluffy white ball of a tail! Like yours, some would let me get close and others would be skittish and hop off. My kitties enjoy watching them. Hunter even brought a baby one into the house. Thankfully, it was not harmed and when Hunter wasn't looking I took it back outside. Silly kitty!

We had a little white cockapoo at one time. He did catch a rabbit. He came in the house with blood dripping off his white mouth. And the fleas, oh my the fleas!! We could see them jumping all around the dog's face. As soon as I could kill one, another one would jump. Kept me busy for a very long time.

That is so cute.. I love the bird feeding station that you have.. I have one of those bird feeders in my shed because I don't have anywhere to hang it.. Ta Da, you just gave me the answer to how to put it under the lilac bush for my birds to eat...
Don't have too many rabbits here at the farm in Iowa,, we have coyotes here in the area..
We are going to get a snow storm this afternoon, expected to get 5 to 8 inches of snow.. Have a great day..as I will be watching the beautiful snow coming down.. ta ta for now from Iowa:)

How cute. Some years ago I had one that would come over and watch me pull weeds. Very, very tame.

Awesome photos; weird that in the 10 years we have lived here I might have seen a bunny once. The must be hiding out in our 30 acres of bush out back.

You get Bun-buns too!
I think the snow is too deep for them in the bush,so they find dinner at the feeders.

Cutest little bunnies, we used to have many back in PA and they would always eat all my bulbs and daffodils!

Thanks for stopping by my blog!
