I went out this morning to feed the birds with Miggy and to sit on the patio and have my tea , when all of a sudden Miggy was by one of the trees in the back and standing her ground barking her head off tell something off.
I went to see what it was she was barking at and low and behold it was a baby possum in the live trap . Now we had already caught 2 racoons in the past week as they were being very rambunctious and emptying my nectar feeders I have hanging in the tree . But I out smarted them and removed the feeders every night so no night critters could get to them and destroy them . Well this little guy was just to curious for his own good , the trap was left open but there was no bait in it , he must of got to curious and got himself caught.
This little guy is nasty , mined you he must be scared but still most of the critters we trap are quiet but this little guy showed his teeth and growled at me quite a few times. So he is in the shade now and I am just waiting for him to cool off a bit so I can release him !
If he gets to on the defensive I will have to wait till Papa gets home from work and he can release him ! Papa mostly is the one that releases all the critters we catch !
Until next time hope you all have a good day !

Hi Elaine..Now that must have surprised you, the raccoon's weren't the only thieves you had!!
There is nothing like a cornered animal , I'm sure he can deliver a nasty bite so be careful!!
We see them on occasion here but the southern part of the state mostly!!
Well enjoy your week ..your of to a strange start... : }

I think it bites!
Miggy is a good watch dog! That possum does NOT look happy! I'd wait for your husband to get home!
You are brave to even go near the cage. Scary dude!
Great photgraphy and on the one where you got his face and the cage disapeared. Thumbs up!
They always hiss when scared or cornered. You did good, shade and time to calm down. He will do a dance of freedom when the door is opened.
Oh no, he/she doesn't look happy. Good luck with it, Anna
Not a fan of possums, but am lucky we don't have them here.
We have a friend who is very fond of possums , but they have never looked attractive to me. Hope this young one was released far enough away not to be a problem again.
I just caught a raccoon the other night who refuses to leave and has taken up residence in my duck yard. He was so scary in the trap, but was glad to leave the cage when I relocated him. Glad you trapped the possum!
I don't know about opposums but I do know that if you don't take raccoons outside a 10 mile radius they will continue to return.
