Another Month Just Flying By

WOW ! I cant believe how fast this month has gone now , Only three more days and it will be October already .

The days have been warm with lots of sunshine and cool at night and we have had next to no rain at all over the past two weeks maybe a bit here and there but nothing substantial for my gardens that's for sure . I am happy that it is to rain overnight tonight and tomorrow I just hope its enough for my gardens to get a nice soaking .

The trees are changing and some have lost a lot of leaves already seems the cool nights are whats doing it for them , I have already started my fall raking and gardens clean up as some flowers are done whilst others are still going strong .

My larger sunflowers are almost done now but this tiny little one is going strong it is the tiniest sunflower I have ever seen .

Lots of tiny butterfly's have been about as well ,  the leaf he is sitting is bigger than  he is  .

Woolly bear Caterpillar I like these little guys and I have seen quite a lot about .

Turns into this a Isabella tiger moth and  just as pretty .

We are soo happy that over the past moth we have had two frogs occupying our pond .

Soon we will have to over winter our pond and we hope these two frogs will be able to get  ready to over winter  in it . As frogs are cold blooded they will begin to slow down as their body temperatures drop. When winter arrives they will go into a state of dormancy and wait out the cold weather and pass the winter at the bottom of your pond below the ice. Frogs produce a type of glucose in their bodies that will allow them to freeze solid and still be able to survive, amazing isn't it ?!

Miggs and I have been enjoying lots of cooler morning walks and she loves to see and spend time time with t the kids at the bus stop till they are on the bis and off to school . Then we continue on our walks, sometimes meeting up with her doggie friends and their people so we stop for a chat  ,she chats dog with the  dogs and I talk with our neighbors / friends and then we are all go off and continue our walks after .
I find I am using my phone camera a lot more now as it is always handy as all these were taken with it lol ! Harvesting  on  our area farms are booming right now and there are sounds and sights of tractors and combines  all around  and the smell of the fields is delightful . Lots of pumpkins and squash about now to and side road fall harvest stands  at some of the farms are in full swing .

Well that's about it with us not a heck of a lot going on just trying to keep up with the seasons in the gardens and yard lol , and getting the most out of it all as well as enjoying it .

                                                              Until next time

Nearing The End Of Summer

Well this season of summer has just flown by soo fast . The weather has cooled down for the nights and early mornings but the days have been warm and sunny with cool breezes. I cant believe next Monday will be the first day of fall already .
The gardens are in between where some plants are all done whilst others are thriving even more as they prefer the cooler nights .

Especially our little sunflower plant that was planted by a critter lol .

I love it when critters plant sunflower seeds from the feeders in the gardens and we get these lovely plants just full of beauty and sunshine .

Our African daisies are just amazing as well as they have been also giving us such beauty all summer long and are still going strong .

We have had many different types of butterfly's stop off in our gardens and it has been so wonderful to watch them .

Some leaves have started to fall as well as some trees are slowly starting to change now to .

We will be getting fruit eating birds feasting in droves soon on our crab apple trees berries .

The turkey Vultures have been soaring over the valley , our yard and the field beside us more now as they hunt to feast before they are on their migration path soon . Our hummers are fewer but still hanging about as they prepare for their migration flight soon as well .

And Miggs, well... she is just taking in every drop of sunshine and fresh cooler breezes each day that's left of the summer season .

                                                          Until next time .

It Was A Pretty Sunrise Through The Fog

The other morning I looked out my kitchen window and saw the sunrise trying its hardest  to shine through the fog over our valley , I had to go out and get a photo or two .

I love how the suns light bounces off of the fog as it hits the top of the trees at the top of our valley .

As I was taking the fog sunrise photos I heard the geese in the distance but could not quite see them in the fog as their sound was getting closer and closer then just as I happen to look up as I heard the swoop swoop of their wings I was able to capture them flying right over me through the fog as the sunrise light just caught them and shone on them  just enough for me to take the photo . Those moments that just seem to happen perfectly  when you least expect them .

I Love Seeing This & Taking Their Photos

This time of year we see more of these horse and buggies with in our valley . I just love seeing the horse and buggies of the Amish and Older Order Mennonites of our area . This horse was waiting for his owner to return as his owner was going door to door selling their farm fresh fruit , veggies and home baked goods . These cart horses are what is called warm bloods most are Dutch warm blood and usually retired racehorses of either a trotter or standard bred but sometimes they are bred just for this purpose by the Amish or Mennonites. We live in an area of Southwestern Ontario Canada that has communities of the Amish and Older Order Mennonites , I also enjoy seeing the Belgian Draft work horses in the fields plowing or going for sleigh rides in the snow.

This horse was standing dozing off until I gave a a little click click sound and he looked right at me .

I was raised on a farm and worked with horses as well as had my own so I can appreciate the power  beauty and usefulness of the horse for these people still to this day .

I sometimes take photos of the horses for the Amish or Mennonites when they needed to show the horse  they have for sale in a farm magazine they all buy and sell from , I do so enjoy doing this for them and its a fun filled day of horsey watching and taking their photos  and I look forward to doing this for them .
