Not much has been going on here , this time of year as it is so cold and after all the December hoopla things quiet down here . Papa is at work during the weekdays , Miggs and I putter about sometimes inside and sometimes outside for a bit or go for our walks if the weather isn't to windy and YUKKY out , but I always make sure our birdies and critters are well fed and always have full feeders out there .
Early this morning as the sun was rising I was watching the birds at the feeders and took a few photos of them from my kitchen sliding doors .
One of our many male Cardinals having an early breakfast , they usually eat later in the mornings after all the other birdies have had their fill for a bit but this guy wanted to catch the early worm so to speak lol !
I like to sit in the kitchen in the mornings this time of year have my cuppa tea and just watch them all at the feeders , they can be quite entertaining and comical with their antics at times .
I am always looking out for a new bird at our feeders or in our yard as we are on the migration path , one never knows . I have spotted quite a lot of newbies to our feeders and yard over the years .
As they all fly about to and from these feeders and the ones I have in the back over by our crab apple tree which the other day in a snow squall we had about 30 Cedar Waxing's visit and feasting on the crab apple berries it was to snowy to get any photos of them this time but have had lots of photos in the past , always nice to see them , they are such clean pretty looking birds with lovely markings and colour.
Miggs loves to be outside on a cold day when the sun is shining and the winds are some what calm .
While the north of our province got hammered with snow yesterday we went from green to a dusting of snow .
So all though it has been quiet and cold things have been good here just enjoying and taking it all in .
Until next time .

I find myself wondering if cardinals seem to prefer more rural areas. I never see them in the city.
Awww Miggs....such a cutie pie!!! I have never seen a Cedar Waxwing in person....would love to. We also have a few feeders out and feed the birds all year long...they come to depend upon us, don't they. Lovely shots of the cardinal. Love them. I was lucky enough to catch a scarlet tanager last summer....pretty rare around here....and very shy. Have a great weekend!!
So sorry you're not enjoying LOTS of bright white snow like us!
It's a lovely sunny day here, but snow moving in for the beginning of the week. The birds are enjoying the suet feeders, must get busy and make some more. Have a great weekend.
it was nice to see the cardinals in your yard, Elaine, I do miss seeing them as we did when we were living in VA, where it is the state bird.
