We did have a small break from the humidity last week but now once again are back into the sweat of things . They have been saying the cooler fall weather is upon us how accurate they are?! who knows all I know is HOLLY CRAP August is all most over already ?! . where did the summer go ?! Kiddies here will be back to school next Tuesday I have seen the commercials for back to school with all the parents with smiles on their faces but less $$ in their pockets once again for all the supplies . I know some kids like in the states are already back to school now .
I don't know if any of you in your area have noticed but here the hornets and wasps have been more of a nuisance then normal and have been building nests in any little tiny nook n cranny and hole they can squeeze into , I have never used so much wasp spray as I have this year to try and keep them from getting in the house .
Mean while I have been in and out in this humid weather , mostly out in the mornings and later in the evenings as it is a bit cooler , and the butterfly's and birds have been busy .
The birds have been spending lots of time at the watering holes we have about the yard and gardens for them and the butterfly's have been gathering nectar preparing for their migration journey some of the birds will soon be following to as the fall and yes I know WINTER yuk ! birds will be arriving .
The Fall fairs in the area will be this weekend and next weekend , don't know if we will go to any but I do enjoy the farm animals and all the home made goodies . Papa is home as of Wednesday for the rest of the week and till this long weekend that is coming as he took some vacation time so we will see , depends on what odd jobs needs to be done here , we have been busy with the driveway getting rid of the grass by getting it dug up then adding more gravel and packing it down as well as building it up so we don't loose it all down the street in a rain storm , things take a bit longer when you do them your self and the muscle has to work during the week as well lol or we may just get that done and then say the heck with all the other odd jobs and go out and about for a change, who knows ?! lol .
I have noticed some fall flowers are blooming as well about the gardens !
Any who just popped in to do a little post and let ya all know I am still about blog land every once in a while lol !
Until next time .

The weather has been quite pleasant the past few days with sunshine and cool breezes no humidity at all so I have been able to get out more into my gardens and tidy them up a bit as they were looking a bit scraggly due to the lack of rain and heat .
It has been a lovely week so far we had our Anniversary , we had a nice evening on the patio with family chatting that evening and Miggs Birthday the next day with lots of extra special treats for her , thank you to you all for taking the time out of your day to visit our blog and for your wishes for Miggs birthday and our Anniversary your visits and comments are always greatly appreciated . .
We have put the little water feature in place where we are to be putting our white picket fence garden for next year we were going to do it all this year but other things we needed to do were done first and the heat was just to much as well . It looks lonely and out of place there now but it wont be when the garden is in place , the birds seem to like the idea of it there to as I saw but didn't get a photo of , a Northern flicker had stopped by on it to have a nose about and a drink from it .
As I was sitting on the patio yesterday this little hummer was taking an interest in the flowers in the hanging pot .
Look closely he is in there lol !
Then he decided to go to the feeder and rest and drink instead .
He blends in quite nicely with the greenery doesn't he ?! They are feasting like mad now and fighting for territory as they prepare for the long journey back soon !
Mr Dovey likes to take a break here at one of the watering holes in the mornings .
Our little red breasted nut hatch has returned and is quite comical to watch as he flits about and turns upside down every now and then on the feeder playing and feasting .
I caught a glimpse of the moon yesterday in the middle of the day slowly setting in the west .
Yesterday the Moon was in a Waning Gibbous Phase. This is the first phase after the Full Moon occurs. It lasts roughly 7 days with the Moon’s illumination growing smaller each day until the Moon becomes a Last Quarter Moon with a illumination of 50%. The average Moon rise for this phase is between 9am and Midnight depending on the age of the phase. The moon rises later and later each night setting after sunrise in the morning. During this phase the Moon can also be seen in the early morning daylight hours on the western horizon.
TODAY - Thursday, August 25, 2016. The moon today is in a Third Quarter phase. Sometimes called a Last Quarter moon, this phase occurs roughly 3 weeks after the New moon when the moon is three quarters of the way through it's orbit around the earth.
I don't know about all of you but I have always found the moon fascinating and beautiful as well .
Miggs …. well she just loves everything lol !
It was a cloudy morning this morning and the humidity is back again to , YUK ! we were to get rain over night but not much of that came down for us here though , it did in surrounding areas as Papa said to me via a FB message this morning the roads were soaking wet on his way to work at 5am and there were puddles to , the sun is coming out now and boy oh boy is it ever humid even more now , oh well it is what it is I always say lol ! I cant believe this is the last full week of August already where did the summer go ?! . Papa is off all next week for a vacation , not going any where just enjoying being home puttering and maybe a day trip or two or even going to the beach with Miggs , as we have two very nice clean dog beaches down by the lake with in minuets drive from us , we love it there it is so much fun .
Any who that's about it for us for now got to go close the windows up and turn on the AC it is getting sticky once again .
Until next time .

This weekend was nice and the weather was lovely to , a little busy but not to busy lol ! First Friday after Papa got home from work he surprised me with 24 corns on the cob fresh from a work associates garden who is also a farmer YUMMY ! so I cleaned them up and packed them in freezer bags still in the husks as that's what farmers do with their corn and we did back on my farm days , it keeps the corn fresh longer and tastes like they were fresh picked every time .
The weekend mornings have been so pretty with the fog and the sun rising in the east and the moon setting in the west .
The Canadian Geese below are starting to take their fall flight path now as well every morning and late in the evenings and the Blue Jays have showed up again , seems like fall may be just around the corner .
The weather was nice and cool with no humidity all weekend and this morning we woke to temps of 12C or 54F nice and fresh and cool these kind of cool fresh mornings always reminds me of camping mornings when we used to go camping don't need to do that any more as we have all that and more right in our own yard in the valley lol .
I saw this bright green Luna Moth the largest moth in the moth family , Poor thing had ripped his wings .
This moth is found in North America from east of the Great Plains in the United States to northern Mexico and from Saskatchewan eastward through central Quebec to Nova Scotia in Canada. There have been sightings as far south as central Florida . Based on the climate in which they live, the Luna moths produce differing numbers of generations. In Canada and northern regions, they can live up to 7 days and will produce only one generation per year. These reach adulthood from early June to early July. In the northeastern United States around New Jersey or New York, the moths produce two generations each year. The first of these appear in April and May, and the second group can be seen approximately nine to eleven weeks later. In the southern United States, there can be as many as three generations. These are spaced every eight to ten weeks beginning in February. Interesting .
Yesterday Papa and I were redoing our driveway , we have a gravel drive way and got a friend of a friend to come over with his machine and skim and spread new gravel about and widen the driveway a bit and to help bury a down spout by the car port into the ground so water flows better and doesn't wash away our drive way still a bit of work in process on this but will be done by the end of the week !
And last but not least today is Papa and my Anniversary so I would like to wish Papa hubs and my best friend a
Happy Anniversary Papa
We got married in our Woods Country Coves back yard the same year we bought it with family and friends in country western style .
Love ya always and forever my sweet Papa xoxox
Until next time

The weather has been lovely here , sunny not to humid more heat then humidity I can handle that better and cool summer breezes . This time of the season lots of activity well ok maybe not much from Miggs as you see here lol but in the rest of the yard and gardens there is as all prepare for migration .
The ever elusive hummer this season lol ! They are feasting up a storm now .
As are all the butterfly's and moth creatures !
A rarity but a happy one for me to get photos of these pretties as they always seem so skittish and best thing is I got photos of two of them together YIPPY ! I am so happy about that .
These were smaller then others I have seen so I am guessing this years hatchlings .
Then they decided to split up again and well one at a time in photos lol !
Being down in a valley we get more moisture then the top of the valley and having a river run through it helps keep the moisture to then lots of rain after not having any for some time we develop mushrooms in our grass , thankfully Miggs doesn't like the smell of them so she wont eat them .
Cicada skin below any one ?!
They shed the outer shell like a snake sheds it’s skin and Miggs found this clung to the garden edging I had to move it to get photos as it was clinging in an odd positon to photograph !
Then I went back to the butterfly garden and saw more lovely creatures . Here we have the white Cabbage moth .
This yellow Cabbage moth was hiding resting in the grass !
Don't know what this little fellow is called but he was there pretty and tiny so I took his photo lol !
This is Mr Dove's fave place to perch now in the mornings and evenings as the sun sets .
Afternoon snacks of safflower seed !
And a nap for Miggs !
Well that's about it like I said the yard and gardens are busy once again with the cool breezes and the preparation for migration , some leave at the end of the month which is flying by , by the way and others through out September whish is creeping upon us soon already !
Until next time .
