Back To School And Memories

Back to school today for all the kiddies  . The school bus passed us here at 8am full of kids and on it’s way to collect more ! I always enjoyed school  as a kid the only thing I didn’t like was leaving all my animal friends on farm behind but loved it when I got home I would run straight to them all and tell  them of my day  , the chickens were the best lol .

This is my mum and I waiting for the school bus when I was little . I cant remember what was in that brown  paper bag  We didn’t have back packs in those days  lol that bag looks bigger then me lol knowing my mum it was everything I needed lol !  This is on the farm back in the late 60’s early 70’s   .

Mum stayed home and looked after the farm as my dad worked out side the farm as well . I loved coming home to fresh baked goodies and the smell of it in the kitchen !  Mum would have veggies from the garden on the counter ready to be canned or frozen . My fave was  a fresh home baked chocolate  chip cookie after school !

This is me getting on the bus on the first day of school .

I still remember the bus drivers name Mr Dodds who was my bus driver for 8 years , he was a nice man also a cattle farmer !

I don't remember this as much but this is my sister , my brother and I all ready for school and waiting for the bus !

Every year school starts back up my memories of it all come flooding back as do the memories of the farm !

Do you remember your first day of school and was it fun or did you dread  it all  ?

Until next time my friends !

Oh, just look at you! So flipping cute! I don't remember any first days at school except grammar school...we had to search the school looking for the signature of the man who carved the ceilings/staircases.
It was a peapod!

First day of school was always a happy day for me, I loved school.
The pictures are precious, all neat and tidy, and everything packed inside your little brown bag...how sweet.

I'm the last of 6. I loved the first day of school, because I got new shoes and clothes. I can still remember sitting in the shoe store all 6 of us and my mom helping us pick out our shoes. Good shoes and gym shoes (only worn in gym). I don't know how my parents could afford all of us...must have been hard...but, I never knew. Blessings from Ringle, WI.

I have bits and pieces of memory from back then, but for the most part, most of those memories are all blended together.

Oh I love this. I am 72 young and it brings back memories for me as a kid.

In my days when you had a Birthday in January you had to wait another year. So I was back then seven in grade one. We had no K.

I loved school till I got to grade 8.

I walked to my school. With friends. Back then our Moms never walked us. Only went to board meetings. I did not mine. It took me over half hour but with kids. Time went fast. As we talked and laughed.

When my kids went to school. I walked them and drove them. I hated to see them go. They were five.

Now children go at 4. That I feel they are babies still.

Lots of memories as a student and a teacher. But now I've been retired for 3 years I enjoy the grandkids going back to school for their first days.

What a lovely post! And such wonderful photos with so many memories. I do remember my first day of school clearly. I was very excited. We used to walk there (it was so close to home), and I ran ahead of my mom; she had trouble keeping up. I couldn't wait to get there and get started on learning, especially learning to read. This time of year stirs up so many good memories.

I love these photos! You look so cute. I don't remember much of my first day of school. I think my friend around the corner walked with me or perhaps my older sister. I guess I've forgotten.

I don't remember my first day, but I mother reported that I disgustedly said that I didn't know how to read yet. I imagine I was being funny and feigning disgust even at that young age.
