Papa’s Photos

 

Yesterday as Miggs and I were out filling the feeders Papa was sneakily taking our photo  from inside the kitchen . Cheeky Papa .

                                  Miggy was running  around like a crazy dog !

Something about snow and having some one out with her makes her run a muck !

Then by the time Miggs is done running around she comes in a plops all pooped out ! Takes extra energy to run through that snow !

Papa also took some winter scenery photos , those I will post tomorrow !

During A Snow Fall

 

Our back yard was busy yesterday as it snowed , the birds were chirping and in a feeding frenzy gathering up as much as they could .

                            I like the little Juncos they are so cute and funny to watch .

                              The Downy woodpecker was busy stuffing his face on the suet !

                                         Mr Squirrel was tucked in the food as well !

     Looks like they don't know whether to eat or take cover from the snow or maybe they are doing a bit of both .

              And of course Miggs just sitting there as the snow  gently accumulates on her , crazy dog !

         It is crisp and cold out today  -4°C or 25°F and with the wind chill it makes  it seem even colder . The sun is trying to come out so that will be good if it does I like winter days with sunshine .

Winters Wonders

 

It is snowing again today . Yesterday was sunny and mild so I went out and took some photos .

               Icicles hanging off of our rose bush , the leaf is encased in ice as well !

                                      I like how the ice forms it’s self over everything .

            The sun set shining on the snow , sometimes it is hard to capture snow ya either get it to white and it is washed out or to much blue in the shots something I have practiced at for some time .

                            And of course Miggs who is always up for a photo shoot !

         Mr Cardinal  has all the seed to himself in this photo , lucky fellow !   

           It is pretty quiet here , Papa is finishing up building my little pantry  for me .

We Got Lots Of Snow

 

Well we got hammered with about a foot and half of snow WOW !  The sun is out and  Papa was out ploughing paths and I clearing the walkways around the house .

                                    Of course Miggs was supervising and playing in the snow !

                                                       Miggs does love the snow !

              I like taking photos of Miggs when she does the crazy dog dash in the snow !

The snow is heavy and very sticky and stuck to all the trees , looks soo pretty .  Today Papa  and  his dad are working on  part of my kitchen counter , they are shortening it and taking  a cupboard top and bottom  out to move the fridge over and build a pantry for me  on the opposite side. Photos of all that later !

A Good Christmas

 

Hi everyone .

Hope you all had a good Christmas . We did that's for sure .

Santa paws came here and left Miggs and Harley  a stocking each . Miggs just couldn’t wait .

 

                                    Miggs had a little help from Papa opening her stocking  !

                               Then we did Harley’s for her and she loved her new toys to !

                                                             Mouse on a bouncy string !

  

Then Christmas day I did a ham in the crock pot and baked sugar cookies as the girls played with their toys and Papa vacuumed and dusted for me .

Again one of my own recipes for slow cooking the ham . Half a cup of water then mix half a cup of maple syrup ,   golden honey and pineapple sauce, baste every now and then as the ham cooks and soaks up all the flavour  on low for 10 hours  MMM it was good .

The kids came down Christmas day eve , we opened gifts and had a nice visit but unfortunately they had to go back  this afternoon as our oldest has to  go back  to work  and they needed to head back before the winter storm hit so they didn’t get caught in it , but it was nice to see them .

     We are in a white out right now a huge winter storm has hit southern Ontario ! High winds , blowing snow and cold. We have gone from no snow to a white winter wonderland with in a few hours and it is to keep up all through the night into tomorrow . WOOHOO ! I wanted snow and now I have it , looks soo pretty.

                  Miggs and I will go out and play in it  and  I can take my winter photos tomorrow !

I Got Mail !

 

The paper kind of mail .

I received a lovely hand crafted Christmas card decoration today from a wonderful blog sister, Faye at     The Blessed Hearth . Who has a lovely blog and lots of wonderful hand crafted goodies , recipes and a big heart !

                      Thank you Faye , I love it . This card will be on our tree every year from now on !

Well , It’s Here !

 

                           

Last night it was raining and the wind was very strong . This morning it is a bit of everything and the temps are dropping .

We are to be getting snow as of this evening into tomorrow , Sunday and maybe even Monday . I hope we get enough to make one of these little fellows !

Miggs just came in from being out in the wet , so now I have a wet dog smell beside me here as I type this , I think next time she will be getting the blow drier and not just towel dried  ! PEW stinky damp dog !

Well that’s all for today folks  on my way to the kitchen to make my tea and get the chilli started in the crock pot for supper tonight !

                      Please take a moment of silence today for the victims of  Connecticut !

A Bit Of Sun

 

The weather has been gloomy and cold the past few days and the sun has peeked out every now and then . Today it is very windy and cold still no snow though and no sun !

Yesterday late afternoon the sun finally popped out just as it was setting . It had that lovely orangey glow that just makes everything look pretty as it gently shine’s it’s soft light !

                       I took photos and was practicing using the sun sets natural light !

As I was doing this I noticed the reflection of the fire going in the wood stove in the window so ya know I had to try to capture that as well !

It blurred everything else out but the reflection of the flames ! Not my best photo but I think it looks ok, kind of mysterious in a way !

        Then I went out on the back patio and tried to capture the sun sinking into the horizon and reflecting in the cloud formation !

            I am  a photo junkie, I have to take photos at least once a day of something or I go nuts lol !

Gloomy Day’s Again

 

It has been pretty quiet here at Our Country Cove , foggy , rainy and chilly so I haven’t had much to post about for a few days .

Harley hopped up at the window that was closed and MEOWED loudly at me , she wanted  the window open a bit so she could smell the fresh air and hear all the birds in the back yard .

So  I started to snap photos I decided to keep going as I hadn’t taken photos for a few day’s either !

Miggs was on the back porch in front of the kitchen door in her bed where she likes to be in the mornings watching all the goings on in the yard while the birds and squirrels have their breakfast !

                                                                 Foggy over the valley again !

                     Is that sunshine ? They say we are to be getting some sun today , oh I hope we do !

Still no snow here . I want some snow so I can take my winter wonderland photos , ok so come March I wont want it any more, I know , but anything is better then this gloomy foggy rainy stuff ! At least with snow Miggs and I can go out and play and it looks pretty . I like the mild snowy sunny days . It may be a green Christmas for us they say  hope they are wrong it just isn't the same with out snow even if it is just a dusting !
