Hello all , Hope everyone had a good weekend !
It was a busy weekend for Papa and I as we tackled the huge over grown row of Cedar hedges behind our sheds and stacks of wood for our wood stove . Papa cut off at least 6 feet or more of the tops of them as they were just too big and blocking a lot of the light for the yard and I helped cut them up in to small pieces so they fit in our trailer . So needless to say today we are both feeling it . The weather wasn’t to bad , sunny all though the winds were chilly on Sat but yesterday was sunny warmer and calm winds .
We woke to lovely sunny mornings and planed our day !
Papa got started right away on hedge cutting , I joined later as I had a few things to do first !
The Cedar hedge was as tall as the Spruce trees in the back there this is just the first section he cut down the rest has to be done on the left side of the photo !
There he is on the ladder with the hedge trimmer , a mini saw on a stick I call it lol cutting down huge tops of the cedars ! I took a few photos when we took our breaks and rested every now and then .
Purple finch, such a pretty little bird . Oh just before we started our work Papa spotted an Orchard Oriole on my feeder and I saw a few Barn Swallows . We have the Baltimore Oriole , Humming birds , Red breasted Grosbeak , and Wren to still return then we have all our spring and summer bird back !
Other then Cedar cutting and taking the odd photo that was our weekend . Papa took today off as a vacation day , good thing cause I think he is a little sore from climbing up and down that ladder reaching with the trimmer and pulling and hauling big chunks of trees lol !
What did you get up to over the weekend !
Until next time my friends !

Wow, sounds like a massive job! I am sure that it will be worth it though and that you will enjoy the result of more sunlight in the garden! xx
There's nothing better than a good day working in the yard. I so enjoy those days. And isn't it wonderful that the weather is cooperating...:) Happy week to you!!!
ahhhh, i so envy you, a productive day of yard work!!!! hoooooray for you! but a day of rest after, is a necessity too! :-)
-sigh- we have so much pruning and hacking to do, around here. it's getting a wee bit too much for us, me-thinks. i've still to fully convince him of this, of course. men! even pushing 81! men! -grin-

Raining here on Saturday,so we did indoor jobs..then Chris beat me at Scrabble (twice)..NO FAIR.
Sunday I spent tidying up the smaller veggy patch and began laying bark pathways. My hands ache like crazy today!

HI well that was a great days work and one that deserves a rest afterwards. These jobs just have to be done. Love the Purple finch.
i did some firewood cutting and limb breaking and tree trimming here, too.
Glad you had a good week-end and lots of work out of the way.
We now have to wait for it to dry up so we can clean up after the hard rain and some flooding. More rain tonight.
I always feel better when I have that spring yard work finished!
One wonders what the birds thought of all that work going on.
Gosh, what a load of productive work; bet it looks wonderful!
Nothing better than being out in the yard and getting things done! Love that feeling of accomplishment!
Elaine, it's that time of year as we did much of the similar yard work last Friday and Saturday with lawn cutting and yard clearing. I know what you mean about feeling it afterwards, but it was good to be working outdoors. We did nothing much on Sunday and this week it's raining nearly all week, so back to the same by this weekend...if and when it dries out, so we might get a longer reprieve. Hooe you and Papa are feeling better.
That looks like it was a big job.
I've got my hummer and oriole feeders out ready for those pretty birds.
But today the wind is so strong and the rain is pouring down, so don't imagine there will be any around today.
That's a big job to get those cedars trimmed. I can't believe how much the leaves are out there! Our trees are barely budding here and we are 3 weeks behind in our spring weather. May just has to be better. :)
