It Was A

Quiet weekend for  Papa and I here . We puttered . I in my gardens and doing laundry , Papa in his work shop and Miggs well she chased squirrels every now and then .

The weather Saturday was a cloudy start then the sun came out and it ended up a lovely day only a bit of humidity . Papa Miggs and I went for a nice walk and I took my camera with me .

Summer 2013 (3 of 24)

Papa and Miggs were ahead of me as I was looking for things to photograph . It is always a special treat for Miggs and I when Papa goes for a walk with us and easier for me to take photos .

Summer 2013 (6 of 24)

Along the road side tucked in the pine trees was this huge wasps nest ! It is amazing the size of these nests  get !

Summer 2013 (8 of 24)

The wasps were very busy in and out of it and if you look very closely you can just see one of the wasps peeking out of the hole .

Summer 2013 (11 of 24)

We continued down the road and there in the ditch is a small marsh with these pretty yellow flowers mixed in with these grasses .

Summer 2013 (14 of 24)

Farther along there was an empty lot with these fungi / mushrooms all over it .  There were so many different shapes  and textures .

Summer 2013 (15 of 24)

We continued walking as Papa and Miggs were still up a head of me . I was looking around at everything to see what I could find . Then I looked up to the sky and saw this cross on the top of our village Anglican church that just caught my eye and looked heavenly with the way the cloud  looked above it !

Summer 2013 (19 of 24)

We were coming to the end of or walk so I took a photo of Papa and Miggs as Miggs was  looking for squirrels in the trees !

Summer 2013 (23 of 24)

It was a nice walk and as we got home the sun came out .

The rest of the day and Sunday was spent cleaning out gardens of plants and flowers that are done for the season , Papa was busy in his work shop insulating the walls of the shop and tidying it up   and cut the grass ! Sundays weather was lovely and sunny with cool winds .

This morning was quite chilly .. chilly enough you could see your breath but no frost as of yet . It will  soon be time for me to bring in all my Geraniums . Hummers are still dashing about filling up as are the bees .  Blue jays are squawking ,Crows are cawing  and I heard the nut hatch with his peep peep sound but haven’t spotted him yet ! After supper as the sun sets earlier now Papa and  I settle down with a cup of tea to watch one of our favourite British series that I have seen several times over the years but still love it

                                                          As Time Goes By !

All in all , a quiet weekend !

Until next time … hope you have a good day !

Wow, beautiful photos! I also bring my camera along when we go walking. You just never know what you'll see along the way.

I really like these crisp, cool mornings. They are so refreshing. The birds and the squirrels and the chipmunks and the rabbits all seem to be running around a little more lately (could be my imagination!). Perhaps they are preparing for the upcoming winter.

Hi Elaine... WOW that is big nest, and pretty interesting where they made it!!
Never saw in in a spruce tree, maybe they wanted some greenery, and cones to decorate the place! lol
It sure looks like a pleasant way to spend the day together!!

It's nice to have a quiet weekend now and then. We had a quiet one too, compared to the summer weekends at least. That is a very large wasp nest by the way. I hope you have a great week. Pam
