Clouds Before The Storm

We were in watch yesterday evening of  sever thunderstorms and possible tornado’s . The temps were very humid , the winds were blowing the sun was setting and these wonderful big clouds were forming in the distance ! I am so glad I went out to have a look at the sky cause I have never see such beautiful cloud formations .

Summer 2013 (1 of 48)

We new it was going to be a bad storm because ahead of the storm were hundreds of seagulls flying over our house catching bugs .  This time of year when in a bad thunderstorm even the bugs fly ahead of it to get out of it’s path and bugs and birds also use some of these storms to help push them along to their migration kind of  like riding  on a wave but on air instead  .

Summer 2013 (10 of 48)

The sun was setting as this huge cloud was traveling and the edge of the cloud was picking up the suns rays !

Summer 2013 (14 of 48)

It was soo beautiful to see I had to stop taking photos a few times just to watch it as it changed  it’s formation  what seemed like every second , It was jaw dropping beauty and fascinating .

Summer 2013 (22 of 48)

Both Papa and I were out taking photos of this event as this is once in a life time to see this  let alone capture it all .

Summer 2013 (38 of 48)

As the cloud floated along the sunset would capture the funnel like edge of this cloud and change it’s colour !

Summer 2013 (30 of 48)

I couldn’t believe my eyes in the forms it was taking on .

Summer 2013 (42 of 48)

Then we heard the thunder and thought we should get in .. besides the cloud was loosing it’s lustre and form and slowly drifting apart . But between Papa and I we have loads of photos of it all .

The storms started shortly afterwards .. lots of lighting .. heat lighting at first then thunder with lighting bolts and yes Papa was photographing the lightning from in here ..he had his camera set up on the tripod and it took timed exposures . He got some good photos  will share them here later .

The rain was torrential the thunder was loud and the lighting was awesome .. well we thought so not so much for poor Miggs .

All calmed down today but still humid and a bit gloomy out !

Until next time … have a snap happy day  .
