Changing Season

Soon the season will be changing from summer to fall by the end of the week . The air has all ready cooled down and has a fresh crisp feel and sweet smell to it as  the winds blow from the north more now . Bit by bit leaves are changing and falling to the ground , big puffy clouds float by with shades of greyish blue and white and have a chilly look to them as the sun struggles to peer through them with it’s weakened glow . Birds come and go  as critters are busy gathering food to store in their little hiding places as the land slowly changes it’s canvas . We all are busy cleaning out gardens as summer flowers and plants come to the end of their season and bring in others to protect from the frosty nights and mornings  whilst some plant bulbs  and gather fall plants to keep the colour going in the nakedness of  already gardens . The sound of chain saws cutting wood to put away in the wood sheds for fireplaces and the smell of wood stoves already  alight . Slow cookers and crock pots on the go with home made soups and stews  with an apple or blueberry pie in the oven ready for dessert , with cups of tea , coffee and hot chocolate being a comfort and warmth . Family’s get together to celebrate harvest .  In side and out being decorated with orange , yellow and red for the changing season , pumpkins , gourds , scarecrows and corn stalks are on display  on porches .  Nice walks in the fresh air , snuggly blankets ,  slippers , sweaters and jammies are brought out  to keep the chill at bay .  Sunrises and sunsets are different in colour from day to day and rise later and set earlier  in a different spot  on the horizon then before  .

This is what the changing season from summer to fall means to me .DSC_3665

Do you have frost already? Or is it soon? While it's nice to see the change of seasons and a bit of cooler weather, it's also kind of sad.

Fall to me is our fav season. Sid and I we got married now being 52 years today. The leaves had turned real awesome colours. It was sunny and we even went in the boat on our honeymoon
and swam.

Which is like two hours other direction where I live now.

It is lovely now outside , crip but colours are beautiful.

Fav season. Like your picture.

I must put up fall pictures also.

I put up our day in my blog.

Thanks for sharing.

What a beautiful post, photos and words... Autumn means many of the same things to me as well... love this time of year like no other, and it is Tessy's favorite time as well... the colors of Fall are so stunning... it means family, a cosy fire, a hearty stew... a snuggly blanket... long walks on the trail with Tessy... oooh, I could write a book about Autumn!... love your photo of your geraniums on the window sill... Happy Autumn to you!... xoxo Julie Marie

Fall means sunny days and cooler temperatures, getting out sweaters and scarves that don't get used over the summer, changing from capris to pants, cleaning the gardens for winter, the arrival of winter birds that flock to the feeders and cozy evening reading or knitting by the fire.

I agree with you in all you said about fall. It's not my favourite season as I so enjoy spring and summer best and really dread the cold and snowy winter ahead. But, I also like the coziness of fall if it could just stay that way and not evolve to winter. :) But, this is Canada and we have 4 seasons and have to make the best of it. Pam

I love fall too. We're suppose to have our first frost tonight. Will cover up some of the potted plants.

Fall is wonderful, however I was not too pleased on such an early frost.
