Photos From Our Walk

Today  I decided to take my camera with me when Miggs and I went for our walk . The sun was popping in and out from the clouds the winds were cold but it was a nice walk . We were out there walking for 2 hours .

This scenery is pretty much all around our valley . We have forest , hills , a river flowing through , wide open spaces and  a wonderful array of nature to see and hear .

This is one of the paths that we some times walk that takes us through a beautiful wooded area .

Spring 2013 (1 of 1)-41

This bird is a Killdeer . They have a distinct sound that sounds almost like a seagull but at a higher pitch . They nest in grass fields and on lawns . They are very skittish and if you follow them they will take you away from where they are nesting and will fake they are injured to lure predator's from their nest . This is the first photo I have been able to get of these wonderful birds . This guy was quite inquisitive with me and my camera and  I was able to get a few photos ! I approached low to the ground , slow and quietly .

Miggs was such a good girl for me and laid waiting for me to get the photos of this bird !

This river is the Otter river and runs through and around the entire valley village .

This path leads deep into the forest to an old cemetery I often visit. The graves are from the 1800s and earlier . A few of the people that lived in this village back then are at rest there !

We were walking in the small park that is off of the banks of the river and we were followed by these three Canadian Geese that were very interested in us !

The roads we walk are all surrounded by trees and forest area . Our village is wide spread as is the valley !

As Miggs and I walk around the curve in this road we pass another road to our right that has an old bridge that was built in the late 1700’s , I have past posts of it . It runs over the river and it is to this day still used for  few villagers who live at the end of the road that travels deep into the forest . Then we keep going and there we are on a little hill is Our County Cove  Home Sweet Home .

As I always say to Miggs when we arrive home , home again , home again , jigaty jig . An old saying my mum always said to us kids when we arrived home .

Miggs and I had a nice walk and enjoyed the daily sights and sounds we get to see and hear every day . Nothing like walking out your door and having such a wonderful valley village filled with beauty and nature . As things green up and temps get warmer it is a whole different sight to the area and even more beautiful !

Until next time hope you have a good day !

    Thanks For Popping By !

They used to nest in the field near by , and you sure knew when they announced there presences with there distinct sound that spring was here!
You did good getting a picture of him, and sweet Migg's was a good girl : )
Those Geese probably was wondering if you had bread in your

Gorgeous scenery on your walk ... bet it was a chilly walk today. Great to see a killdeer, we haven't spotted one yet. Love the old nursery rhyme saying. The sun is out here but it is still very windy and chilly.

We get a lot of kildeer here too..I love their call.We have to be careful where we walk due to them being ground nesters.

What a pretty area! You are lucky to have such beauty right outside your door. It's also nice that you appreciate and take advantage of that beauty!

My Mom used to say the same thing to me when we'd get home!
