Extremely Cold, Sunny & Memories

Extreme cold warnings across the board again today ! It is  -25°C Feels like –32 °C  or  -13°F Feels like –26 °F  This extreme cold shatters records dating back to the 1970’s . Yes I remember the winters like this as a kid on our farm back then doing chores and waiting for the school bus  in the mornings . We haven’t had a winter like this since then and it is something one really has a hard time getting used to .

The good thing about it for me is the sun rose this morning and  is shining  with out a cloud in the sky , no matter how cold it is I can take a lot better with the sun shining !

I had just finished cleaning off the snow from the  feeders and filling them up  and was thinking of what next I needed to do out there as Miggs was watching me !

I still cant believe the amount of Cow birds we have here this time of year very odd as they should be  far south I guess these guys in the feeder and in the Cedar hedge didn't get that memo lol !

The cold keeps the birdies moving and feasting to stay warm !

Mr Nut hatch always waits till the feeders are vacant to get his food !

As I had said earlier in the post this extreme cold  was with us way back in the 70’s when I was a kid on our hobby farm but the amount of snow we have now thank goodness is nothing compared to then  .

Yup that's me way back in the 70’s  when it was very cold and we had lots of snow then and I still manage to get out side in this frigid cold even now a days lol !

I was a bit older in this above photo with my hunting dog Bessie . I was always outdoors no matter the weather lol this is at the back of the farm in the woods which was my favourite place to play !

And that's my dad and I with our Holstein bull calves I named steak and hamburger lol I was a strange kid lol !

So even though the winters haven’t been this cold since the 70’s it is bringing back some good memories of the winters I had been through on the little hobby farm that I miss all so  very much .

  5. Brrrr- it's cold here, too today. I'm just taking a break from moving and using my daughter's computer. We are off line out in the country for now. Loved all the old pics. They are fun to look back on, I know. Well, give Miggs a hug for me and stay toasty. We have the sun here, too. Thank God!

  8. Ooh goodness, that's just too cold for man or beast !
We have ice dams for the first time, homeowners experiencing roof leaks galore, it's a whole new problem for us here in the south.
Stay warm and safe, spring surely is just around the corner.

  10. How lovely to look back at the oder photos, I'm sure they bring back lots of memories. I can see where you get your love of the outdoors. It's still really frigid here but at least the sun is out. I'm hoping this will be the last of it.

  13. I was just talking to someone last night who had come back from Boston and they said that there is so much snow that apparently they are thinking of shoving it into the harbour because they have run out of places to shovel it to. I really hope that you don't get much more. After last winter it didn't seem possible to get more, but there has been! Sending you some sunshine and warms! xx
