Harvest Table Complete

I did posts way back of Papa refurbishing , rebuilding  and refinishing a Harvest table for Bill at his work. Well it is all done and it looks awesome . It took quite some time to finish it as Papa works during the week and he had so many coats of stain and shellac to put on and dry and in between each coat he had to sand the table ! Finishing a piece properly is a long hard task . In the wood working world there is a wood worker and a finisher , wood workers concentrate on building and finishers concentrate on building to finish and if you can do both like Papa your lucky !

Here is the link to the post to see the table in progress for those who would like to see this beautiful Harvest table from the start .

It's absolutely gorgeous! Awesome job!

My Dad just rescued one of those tables out of the dump where he lives. People set items like that aside and anyone that wants it can take it. The wood is warped but is not beyond repair. It's such a shame to see such beautiful wood pieces in bad shape. I hope my Dad can get it looking good again!

I have never done wood working or finishing but I've watched people and know that it is the job for a perfectionist. I have stained and varnished but I am only a "coverer."

Outstanding!!! Its perfect in every way. You can tell that is not sprayed on stain.
Your hubby knows what he is doing and it shows. I bet its as smooth as a piece of glass and I bet if a polishing rag was thrown on it from one end, it would fly like grease lightening off the other end. That is smooth...

I use to refinish and did many of my MIL and hubby's old pieces from the old farm. I know the time that goes into a piece. The hand rubbing and (0000) steal wool sanding after each coat of varnish. Now days the crap in the stores is...well....crap. Sprayed on stain/varnish. Give me a old piece of real wood furniture from the past any day.

Wow, your husband is one talented man. Refinishing furniture is a lot harder than most people think. Anyone one who has tried it will tell you. The table is gorgeous.

The table is just beautiful. I am sure Bill will be very pleased. My dad was a woodworker, but not a finisher. Me on the other hand, could stain and varnish and sand, and do it all over again, day after day.
Have a wonderful week.
